    2. Jim, I ran into one of your kin folk today at the Lamar Cty Courthouse...in the county clerk's office. They said to get you the message that they had gotten a tombstone or marker placed at the Giddens ancestors.....the one that was high up in the military??? Did not catch the ancestors name. They said to tell you hello. Debra

    2. Jim Giddens
    3. It is my Lt James Richard Giddens, CSA, died 9 days after been shot at the Battle of Dove Creek with the Kickapoo Indians in the area of what is now San Angelo in Jan, 1865. The lady only has a calculated guess at to where the grave actually is. He was buried by this troops with full military honors on the banks of the Concho River on John Chisum's Ranch. Nearest my research has is that the grave is probably under the water of a man made lake now. The lady, Mary I think, has some information indicating the grave was moved to another cemetery, but even then, there was no marker to mark the grave location. I am repeating my self I am sure from the past on some of this. She has been updating me recently on her efforts. I certainly appreciate her. She is Mary Epley, new found distant cousin to me.
