JimG ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Red Cross doing preplanning for Camp Maxey By Phillip Hamilton The Paris News Published September 02, 2005 It's just a matter of time before hurricane Katrina evacuees start coming to Camp Maxey, Lisa McAllister, executive director of the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red Cross, said today. "The state is still working on Camp Maxey, and I feel it is just a matter of time before it is put into operation," McAllister said. She said organizers have underestimated the capacity of shelter sites, creating the need to open standby facilities like Camp Maxey, which can house about 400 evacuees.
