As for me, it is a pleasure and it certainly is a pleasure to have a man like Bob in our group with his knowledge. I don't have near as much time to spend on this computer as I use to, but I try to make good use of the time when I do. Bob, don't get scared off and go away because of all the questions. It will slow down in a couple of years <grin>. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kitty Huddleston" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, September 10, 2005 5:58 PM Subject: Re: [TXREDRIV] Halesboro Cemetery > Please continue to share info on cemeteries of the area! I just returned from Red River Co. last week! It was such a great trip. I visited Lone Star Cemetary where my great grandparents, grandparents, and mother are buried. DAVISON and CROW surnames. I have a few MALONE relatives buried there as well. There is a "cemetary working" every year there in October. Then I was able to go to Old Shamrock Cemetary. My great grandmother is buried there, Easter Alabama MCGUIRE. I found out while there my grandfather made the headstone. That made it that much more special. She died in 1902, so it's an old grave. I have other DAVISON relatives buried there as well. That cemetary has received a "historical marker". I don't know what requirements need to be met to receive that. Then I traveled on down the road to Bagwell......the little town Sharon spoke of. My MALONE family lived there in the 1950's. I found the nicest little man, Charlie Dodson......he bought the house my great grandmother lived in. I ask directions to find the house, not knowing it even still stood. He gave me directions.......and I made a few curves in the road to reach a house that perhaps I went in when I was only 4 years old. Drove on down the road a little, to turn around, and saw about 6 or 8 BUFFALO in a pen. Talk about "where the Buffalo roam....." well, my trip was great. I visited with people I'd never met that knew my grandparents. I live in Colorado now, but Texas and Red River Co. and Lamar Co. is still home to me. My surnames: CROW, DAVISON, MCGUIRE, DULANEY, SPARKS, MALONE, HOWELL, WILLIAMS. I also enjoy reading all the "happenings" in Red River Co. My sister still lives there, and has all her life. Linda, I just now have time to go back a read some of the e-mails over the past week or so. I sure enjoyed your report on your "back roads rambling". Makes me want to hit the old roads again, but time is still tight for now.
