John, (and all) I found the write up of the old Victorian 3 story house in Martha Stroud's book, "Red River County-Gateway to Texas". It has a picture of the house on page 314. It is The Hocker House. There is a history of the house and a detail of occupants over the years, then inthe early 1970's the house was sold to Charles and Michelle Ross from Fort Worth. They moved it to Queen Street in Fort Worth. Martha said they would visit with her at the Carousel (gift shop Martha owned). On Yahoo city and street search, I do not find a Queen Street, there is a Queensbury just west of W-I-35 and south of loop I-820. I find a Charles Ross and a Michelle Ross in Ft Worth but listed at separate addresses and neither on Queensbury. There phone numbers are listed. They are south side of down town F.W. by north of I-820 loop. The house was built in 1890 by Dr Preston Hocker, a 5,000 sq ft house with 10 large rooms plus bathrooms and closets and halls ad turrets. Besides being a doctor, the owned a saw mill and a hardware store. Teels lived there and taught dancing an gymnastics. then sold to Anna Patterson that gave piano lessons, the despair, then during WW II it was divided into apartments. Also, I just e-mailed Judge Lovett for a clarification on the Hocker house as being a different house than the old house where the new P.W. was built. I am now remember that the Hocker house must have been where the bank drive-inn windows are now (but not the main bank), on main just east of the Piggly Wiggly. I had forgotten about that space. Yes that all fits as Judge Lovett said, and the sloping ground toward the church and more slop as it approaches the Delaware Creek. Jim, I looked in the on-line Tarrant County Tax Appraisal District records, under past owners. I found a Charles Michael and Michelle Ross that once owned land at 1929 Queen Street in Fort Worth. According to Yahoo!Maps, it is located in the Southeast section part of the city bounded on the north by I-30, east by Loop 820, south by Highway 80, and west by Oakland Avenue. In a Clarksville Times from Friday February 1959, there is a story about the Sims home being torn down to make room for the new Piggley Wiggley store. The original log building was build before 1842 for J. J. Musgrove. The building was occupied in 1842 by Ebeneazer Allen. Later Capt M. L. Sims held the property until it was sold to George Sunkel for the new store location. There is a picture of the outer walls being torn down to show the original log rooms. Did not get the date of the paper other than Friday Feb and I was researching the 1959 book.
