    1. Re: Not genealogy--Hurricane victims
    2. It is not just the vital records, but cemeteries, churches and their records, historic buildings, and so much more that were destroyed. It is just unimaginable what these people and their families outside that area have been through in the past several days. Please do what you are able to do to help the refugees that may be in your area. Walker Co TX initially had over 500 here in our county and last night they moved 350 more from the Houston Astrodome to the Red Cross shelter in Huntsville. And I know just about every county in East Texas has a lot of people that have fled Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. 3. Lubbock, TX -- out in West Texas -- is receiving people too. They have places for 1,000 right now, and are working on more. One woman came with her grandchildren from Lousiana. She said that she was so thankful that her family is safe and that she is going to work with the Red Cross to help other families coming in. Texas Tech has invited students and facility who are displaced to come here to school. The news last night said that some students had already transfered in. The United Supermarkets in Lubbock collected over $88,000 yesterday...that was reported on the 10pm news. It is so awesome to see everyone come together to help their brothers in need.
