    1. [TXREDRIV] Mowery Reunion
    2. Jim Giddens
    3. Genealogy group: I have been asked to a Mowery reunion in Idabel, Ok this Saturday (9th). My GG GF's sister, Malinda Giddens married Mathias Mowery in the early 1800s. I have been asked to give my presentation on my Giddens connection to the Mowerys in the a.m. and in the afternoon to give my presentation on Lt. J.R. Giddens that died in the Indian battle in Jan 1865 as a Confederate soldier assigned to the Texas Indian Frontier. Lt Giddens was a brother of Malinda. It is interesting that Mathias & Malinda named one of there sons, James Richard (Mowery), same given name as Lt. Giddens, but Lt Giddens was still a boy when the other J.R. was born. I did give the Lt Giddens and some information on the forts he was connected with to the Paris, Son of the Confederate meeting this past Monday night. I feel a little awkward being asked to speak, but I am honored for sure to be asked. The reunion will be at the Choctaw Community Center. I will be back in Paris by 6 for a birthday party for my only great grandchild. Addie will be 4. It is great that any child gets to know their great grandparent. I hope to put more memories in her head as she grows up, but we never know how much longer that will be. Say a few words for me for Saturday. Jim Giddens Paris, Tx p.s. Lt Giddens was born in 1829 and J.R. Mowery was born either in 1831 or 1839. My plot is smeared at the date, so I will have to check that out. Also, J.R. Mowery is buried at Concord (Giddens) Cemetery. I will need to check on where Malinda was buried. I think she remarried in Lamar County after Mathias died.
