We don't actually get a DNA sample from an ancestor, however, many of the folks that have had their DNA test done, know who their ancestors were for many generations. I have about 16 folks that match my brother's DNA - three of them are very close and one person matches all 37 DNA markers. Unfortunately, the person that has the 37 marker match is like me and only has info back to her gr grandfather and not much on him. The more people that get tested the better the odds. Hopefully, someday we'll figure it out - if not, we've tried everything we can.
