Jim I have e-mail you in private a couple of times, I guess you don't get your private e-mail I hope you or someone can help me PLEASE find the cause of death of my great grandfather John Danial Ledbetter. He died or was killed on Aug. 28 1904 and is buried in Tiger Town cemetery, I have been told by my family that they were very poor but the headstone is very nice for the time frame he died in, they came from Alabama (long story) he was married to Mary Jane Click ( her father was Richard Click) she died and is buried next to him on March 21 1911 and my grandmother was raised by her brothers and sister in laws. William Edward (Uncle ED) who was hit by lighting and died 1933 and Thomas Danial Ledbetter (Uncle Tom) I was very close to him but he never talked about Papa and Ma. My grandmother married Albert Earl Freeland son on William (Will) Freeland grandma was Lizzie Mae Ledbetter. They had 9 child all born in or around Paris my mother was the oldest she became a nurse there in Paris and entered WWII and became a 1st LT in the 11 evac.unit and was highly decorated and had 5 campaign and battle stars with letter from IKE and Patton that I have now she died in 1993 at VA hospital in Dallas where we live. Her sisters were Thelma (Dean), Bessie Bee, brother Ferrell (died at 10 mo. from lye soap) sisters Ruth, Arduth, Faon, brother Royce and sister Malone. They were born and lived in Unity, Globe, Sumner, and Chiota. Can you PLEASE help me I have health problems that will not let me make the trip to look for myself. 3. Sounds like you need Lamar County. All the places you mention are in Lamar County, although there are probably some people on this list who are familar with both. If you haven't already done this, go to the Lamar County TXGenWeb site, http://gen.1starnet.com/ and click on "Cemetery Records" and do a search on your names. You might find some information on some of them. 3. Donna, I don't recall getting a private e-mail from you. I must have assumed it was to the entire list. Knowing nothing about Ledbetter's, I just did not reply, hoping someone else would. I have lived in Lamar County for 11 years now and do received their list e-mails also, but seldom have a helpful answer for them. Red River County is where I was raised and is my home no matter where I have lived over the years. I thank Cynthia for giving you a helpful answer. Courthouses are not my strong point, but maybe a volunteer from the Lamar group can help you with death records. The only records I have ever searched in courthouses are deed records. Meanwhile old cemeteries and back roads of Red River County are my passion. Having said that, I want to thank again Lawrence and Sue Dale for their work of love they have done on researching of Red River County Cemeteries for over 25 years. What I know and have knowledge of is only a drop in the bucket to theirs. They have covered and recovered it all.
