I am new to the list--just starting my Red River County searches. One thing I note is that the Clarksville Cemetery list compiled by Maribeth Buce that I found on _www.rootsweb.com/~txredriv/_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~txredriv/) is different from the one given to me by Kay Woods. Kay's has all the same Raineys as Maribeth plus some others: Rainey, Elizabeth Robbins, Wife of John W. b. 1838, d. 1892 Rainey, John W. Surg 11 Tx Cav, C.S.A. Can anyone tell me if Elizabeth and John W. (my great grandparents) are buried in Clarksville Cemetery for sure? Thanks so much! Maribeth (now deceased) and Barbara inadvertently left out several graves when they did this transcription. This was an oversight and I did not know it at the time. I have added a few. I have had several people call this to my attention and I offered to add the ones that were missing if they would send them to me. At least two people said "Oh no, this would be way too much trouble and they were busy people" I again ask if anyone knows for sure of missing names, I would be glad to add them. Yes, Elizabeth and John W. Rainey are there, according to the Dale's book. I will add them. Thanks. I would like to contact Charlotte, who is a descendant of the Martin family that lived near Detroit. We corresponded about 5 or 5 years ago, and I don't remember a last name. She was a member of this list for quite a while. I talked to someone today who would like to get in touch with you. Cynthia Samples

Mary Ann, when you came down to visit in June, did you go to the Mckenzie Cemetery? Marilyn ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
Hi, Yes, we did go to the McKenzie Cemetery, also Albion, Cuthand, and Fairview. I'd stupidly left all my papers at home, and was pretty dumb about what I wanted to know. We also went to the County clerk's office at Clarksville. It was a little much for me to try to research with Karen & Nell wanting to "help" & I didn't know who I was looking for, because I'd left my papers in MI. I won't make that mistake again! The days we visited cemeteries, it had been rainy & they were pretty muddy, with uncut grass. I think they'd been recently mowed, but the rain made the grass sprout up again. Tommy Mauldin has been very helpful to lookup things for me. I see the Dales have a new set of books out, which I might consider. Hope all is going well with you. Things are fine here. We're very concerned & worried about Bill & Dorothy, of course. I know things aren't good for them & the information that Mom passes on really doesn't make a lot of sense. I don't know if she's messing it up when repeating it, or what. Keep in touch, Love, MA
I was still in grade school so I don't remember too much but I do know that the widow with four children drew a few groceries and a very small check. She worked in a sewing room 10 hours 5 days a week for them. As I remember she recived dried bean, rice, dry milk, flour, corn meal, a few cans of canned meat, don't think it was beef or pork though. this is all i can remember. My in-laws received 20 dollars a month when they turned 65 when they retired. My husband was drafted and his dad was not able to farm anymore so they had to sell out, not being to do it by himself. I hope this answers some of thw questions wanda in OK ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

Thank you so very much. Will check them out. Nancy
A couple of months ago, a few people gave suggestions on cleaning old headstones without damaging them. Any suggestions, or where can I go to find that discussion board? Thanks, Nancy Gentry
