    2. I have a question please? Since John D. with his wife Mary Jane, and children William E, Thomas D and Lizzie lived in Collin county, Texas in 1900 per the 1900 Federal Census why do you think John D. and family ended up in Lamar County 4 years later? Other than farming? ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

    3. Donna, I don't recall getting a private e-mail from you. I must have assumed it was to the entire list. Knowing nothing about Ledbetter's, I just did not reply, hoping someone else would. I have lived in Lamar County for 11 years now and do received their list e-mails also, but seldom have a helpful answer for them. Red River County is where I was raised and is my home no matter where I have lived over the years. I thank Cynthia for giving you a helpful answer. Courthouses are not my strong point, but maybe a volunteer from the Lamar group can help you with death records. The only records I have ever searched in courthouses are deed records. Meanwhile old cemeteries and back roads of Red River County are my passion. Having said that, I want to thank again Lawrence and Sue Dale for their work of love they have done on researching of Red River County Cemeteries for over 25 years. What I know and have knowledge of is only a drop in the bucket to theirs. They have covered and recovered it all. 3. Sounds like you need Lamar County. All the places you mention are in Lamar County, although there are probably some people on this list who are familar with both. If you haven't already done this, go to the Lamar County TXGenWeb site, http://gen.1starnet.com/ and click on "Cemetery Records" and do a search on your names. You might find some information on some of them. 2. When I replied to Jim's email, it only went to his address. What I said was......there are at least 2 McKenzie Cemeteries. One is just a little way out of Clarksville and the other is 1/2 miles from Cuthand Cemetery. Our gr grandparents, Latimers, are buried there and some of the House family. I don't remember many markers in there and I don't recall a Burkett. Nell or Don Leatherwood would know, or even Dorothy. 3. MaryAnn, I made a dry run at the McKenzie Cemetery. I did not expect to make the stop and was not prepared with my weed-wadding boots and my note from you. The small cemetery was up to waist high weeds and I could not remember the name of the grave I was looking for. I looked over the markers the best I could but a few of the markers, I could not make out. I took pictures with my new digital of about 4 or 5 of them, but I still can not read them any better. I see now I was looking for Lizzie Burkett. Most of the markers are of McKenzie graves and several are Dawson. I will try again soon, and be better prepared.
