    1. [TXREDRIV] Madras Cemetery/Old Shiloh Cem.
    2. Diane Miller
    3. I am a new member to this list and I am a descendant of the Ballard Gates Beldsoe family of Clarksville. I have alot of information, pictures and stories on the Blesoe family. They came to Red River Co. in 1861. If any of you are researching this family, please contact me. I do have a question. The Bledsoe's are buried in the Madras Cemetery, Ollie Bledsoe was a charter member. My mother says she remembers going to an anniversary celebration for the Old Shiloh Church and you could sit in the old church and look out at the graves. Is the Madras Cemetery and the Old Shiloh Church Cemetery the same place? Thank You Diane Miller

    3. The Latino births may have been delivered by a midwife, possibly a qualified one. Back in the eighties, there was a Coyote who brought scores of peons he sort of rented out to landowners. He took care of his lendable "slaves," allegedly even importing prostitutes from Mexico to console them in their exile. Maybe midwivery was part of his care system. I think he is no longer in Red River County. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gene Phillips" <gnphllps@comcast.net> To: <TXREDRIV-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2003 8:09 AM Subject: Re: [TXREDRIV] Babies not born in Red River Co. > At 03:02 PM 3/3/03, you wrote: > >Jim, > >I don't know exactly when all the doctors in Clarksville stopped > >delivering babies but they had already stopped before I went to work at > >the Clarksville Hospital about 25 years ago. > > > I would guess about 1975. 3. You would think some kind of records of births to citizens of Red River County could be recorded in Red River Co, but I guess not. I even feel guilty that my 3 children were not born in Texas because I was in the service and in school out of state. Well, not really guilty, but just the point of genealogy records for them will be hard to find. 3. And I believe some are even going to Mt Pleasant. I was told a few years ago a OB/Gyn doctor was going to come to Clarksville, but he was told no other doctor would take emergency calls for him if he was out of town etc, so he did not come. 3. Jim, I don't know exactly when all the doctors in Clarksville stopped delivering babies but they had already stopped before I went to work at the Clarksville Hospital about 25 years ago. I only worked there for about a year and I did deliver one baby for a girl who didn't have time to make it to Paris. She didn't even have time for one of our local docs to get there. He got there after it was pretty well over. That was quite an experience because I didn't really have the equipment that I needed. Plus, the baby was premature and had to be rushed to Texarkana by ambulance as soon as possible. He made it, though and did just fine. It will be confusing for future genealogists who are looking for births in Red River county . Most will be in Lamar County but a few will be in Idabel, OK. 3. Sam, this has been happening to me on a regular basis. All the other virus EMails Norton deletes, but this one it can't handle, so it just cuts off your connection when it tries to download it. The one I get comes from big@boss.com. There is no such EMail address. When this happens, go to the internet, go to http://www.mail2web.com and put in your EMail address and password. Your EMails on your server will come up. Delete the one with the virus and you will be back in business. This is a real pain to do, but I don't know how to keep it from happening, since I don't know the source. 3. I don't remember the exact years, but it was several years ago now. Seems to me it was sort of a quiet thing done without much attention. It was more obvious when the overpasses started coming down. The overpass near Detroit was probably taken down about 3 to 6 years ago, but again, seems it was done without fanfare. 3. Yes Jim, I remember those Cavenders in Fulbright well, as well as many other Cavenders. In fact, one of those girls from Fulbright lives out there in Reno now. I also know Mae and Loren, as well as their kids. The day you and I ate lunch together, we were close to Mae's house, and if we had time, I was going to take you by there. I worked with her at Paris some after they came up here from Fulbright, and loved her like my own sister. One of our domonio players lives there by Mae and Loren, and keeps me informed about her health. Also, their son-in-law preaches out there at Reno. When we have a chance, I have a " book " of little funnies about Mae when we worked together, that I will share with you. She is my friend, and I am so sorry to hear about her health.
