    2. Jesse Walker
    3. Hello! My name is Jesse Walker. I was wondering if you were any relation to John B. Reeves in the 1880 Red River census that is married to a Ellen, has a daughters Hattie and Lucy, and john Jr as a son. The reason that I am wondering is because my great- great- great grandfather harrison Russell was a servant to him in the 1880 census. I was wondering if you have some information on this family. I have some deed record showing that John B. Reeves Jr bought some land from my great -great aunt Amanda Russell Holt and great- great uncle John Russell . The land was on Shawnee Prairie. 1. Re: [TXREDRIV]Roberts family
    2. Jim Giddens
    3. Jo, Yes, I meant Tom Roberts, I have had Tom Watson on my mind. Sorry about that. I did get much or most of the information from the Dale book, but do not have one myself. I thought I would wait for the new one, but that is a long 2 or 3 years away. I have a affinity for the family names of Hopewell that I recall from my youth and latch onto them. Such as Gandy, Mowery, McNabb, Monkhouse, Stanley, Fryar, Blassingame, and off course my people, Watson and Giddens. In the picture, Tom Roberts looks a lot like Charlie Daniels of the Charlie Daniel band as for the clothes and hat. He could be around 30 years old but hard to tell for sure. He does not have a beard. I started to say the picture could be older, but I just figure there are not to many pictures back that far. After looking at the picture again, I just do not think it can be as old as 1905. I appears as a snap shot, about 2.5 by 3 inches. The company print on the back is very faint, but appears for be processed by Fox of San Antonio, Tx with the number 12 735 stamped on the back. I wonder if this could be Dec, 7, 1935. Above the print of the Fox (animal) is the larger print word that appears to be "BORDER" but it has a ink spot around the B area. I will be glad to scan and send the photo to you if you like, or maybe you have one. I am trying to find notes where my Dad and my aunt Tommie Jean Watson Childers explained the Tom Roberts picture to me. I am looking at my notes of Hopewell Cemetery of John Roberts 1862-1904; Thomas M Roberts 1882 to _____ and wife Evie Mae (or Mary) 8-19-1885 to 7-2-1971? Jim Giddens Paris, Tx p.s. My Aunt Tommie Jean might could still help with the picture if needed. I do plan to go to Avery tomorrow, perhaps I will stop in Clarksville and talk to Tommie about it again. ----- Original Message ----- From: "JO COX" <jocox@arkansas.net> To: <TXREDRIV-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 22, 2003 6:38 PM Subject: Re: [TXREDRIV]Roberts family and a car crash > Jim, Thank you so much. He died about 1905 or so. Charlie O Roberts is one of mine, married to Lucy Litheria Lemons, but I had no childrens names. By the way, his father was O.B. not C.B Roberts. Charlie O. 3. Jo, In case Sam is out for a bit, I will jump in here. Manchester is northeast of Detroit about 15 miles. You can go north out of Detroit on FM 410 about 8 to 10 miles to the Woodland area then take FM 195 east about 6 miles to Manchester. The road is a little tricky at that split in the road. FM 195 takes a northern route and FM 2118 to the southeast will take you to Tuggle Springs. Both road will get you back to State Hwy 37. 2118 at Negley and 195 at Ablion area just at the Red River. Caney Creek is in the northeast section of the county between White Rock and English. My map show the creek running to the northeast and crossing FM 1699 about 3 or 4 miles east of White Rock, then it continues winding northward until it dumps into the Pecan Bayou at a point about 2 miles east of the northern tip of the original land grant of my Giddens ancestors. I have heard for many years about the Caney Well community and always thought it must be in the area of Caney Creek. Have a good one. 3. It's not real clear, but this might be a picture of Johnny Mauldin http://www.tyler.com/~masimms/article.html His name is mentioned in the text as a guitar picker. 3. Thanks Sam, Joseph and his wife Lettie lived in the Manchester area. I don't know if that is the same area as Detriot or not. I appreciate the answer. Can you tell me in what part of the county I would find Caney Creek? I remember my Dad talking about fishing there when he was growing up. Jo Arkansas

    3. I am not into genealogy, but I was born and raised in and around Red River County, and I knew a Joe Wortham family at Detroit many years ago. He was a shoe cobbler there for many years, and was a very good friend of my family. If I am not mistaken, he still has a daughter-in-law living there. If I remember right, he had a brother about his same age living there too. If my Dad were still alive, he would be 104 years old, and Mr. Wortham would have been about the same age. Sorry I am not much help, but this might give you something to work with. 2. Has anyone ever heard of John B. Reeves. Jesse, Some time ago I helped a Jacqueline Sprague find information on John Reeves. Her John Reeves was from around the Lydia area in the early 1900's. I have some details and can even give you contact information for her if you believe this to be the same person. Ginger Annona, TX

    2. Hi Mike, I am interested in the album. My mother-in-law is a Mauldin and I'll call her afterwhile and find out if she's knows anything about it. There are several Johnny Mauldins in the family tree but I don't know if any of them are the right ones.
