The RRR (page 65) tells of the Little Chicago Store at Mabry. It list several of the owners over the years and says it was always a part of the Mabry Community. I remember the store but do not recall every stopping at it. Jim G BTW. the RRR says the Mauldins were of Cuthand. ----- Original Message ----- From: <BBIRDSWIFE@aol.com> To: <TXREDRIV-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 05, 2003 7:17 PM Subject: Re: [TXREDRIV] names > Just thought I would post my names researching there in RRCO.: Cornett, > McGuire, Warren, Delaney, Fuller and Ward, Wiggins, Kays. Just thought I would post my names researching there in RRCO.: Cornett, McGuire, Warren, Delaney, Fuller and Ward, Wiggins, Kays. My grandfather was Harvey Cornett. He was owner/operator of the Little Chicago Store for several years. He was married to Ada Lillian McGuire. My father, Leighton Cornett, married my mom, Ruth Maurine Moore. She was born and raised in Lott, Texas. Ruth Moore also taught school in Clarksville. I do not know if any of you were her student or not. I know that Martha Stroud lists here name as one of her favorite teachers in one of her books. Mary Hausler sent me a picture of the Little Chicago Store but it was like maybe in the late 60's early 70's. I would like a picture of it that is older...maybe a black and white. Hey folks, I was just sitting here looking at the marriage license of my gr grandmother Marry Harriett "Hattie" Dean/Burns/Bird. It was Sept. 12, 1907 maybe listing the names might help one of you out there. This was the 2nd marriage of my gr grandmother, my line is from her Burns marriage. Her husband died someplace, we think Red River, but no burial proof. Anyway, back to the subject. The surnames listed on this certificate are: J.E. Bird, (groom, Joseph E.) Mrs. Hattie Bird B.J. Deviney M.G. A.J. Street county clerk Belle Street deputy Hope somehow this might help someone. Peggy Batchelor Hamlett researching Batchelor/Dean/Burns and lots of other wonderful people

I think that South Lake is a perfect place to have the reunion. My second choice would the be New Shamrock church just off 82 as you turn to go to Mabry. The Mabry community has their reunion there every year. ___________________ * * * * * * * * *___________________ * * * * * * * * ___________________ * * * * * * * * *___________________ ______________________________ ______________________________ ______________________________
Thank you for the info - I am really trying to tie in Winfield Scott TUTTLE or TITTLE to my MORRIS line. He was blind and md Mollie in 1874 but as far as I can tell he and all of his siblings were dead by 1880. Since they had no children I would imagine that he died not too long after their marriage. South Lake is about 5 miles south of Clarksville on FM 910. Don't confuse it with FM 909 which is the "old" Bogata Hwy. FM 910 goes south from the southeast corner of Clarksville and 910 runs south from the southwest corner of Clarksville. FM 910 leave Clarksville from where the old hospital was before the 1970s. Just before you get to the entry gate of South Lake the hwy will be taking a long curve to the left (east). As you are coming out of the curve the nice steel gate is on the right. The Gate reads "Red River County Club". The lake is about 200 yard straight down this oil top road. I still have not seen the new club house. I talked with Jimmy Hurt today at Avery, he said it looked small to him, but he had not been in it. I will check it our as soon as possible. I expect it will be fine. Jim Giddens Paris/Reno, Tx p.s. There are vast differences in Metal Detectors. My deceased husband had several and they cost from &150. up to $400. This was in late 1960's or early 1970's. None cut out sounding from aluminum foil or bottle caps. The $400. one was to act like a dowser, I hope I spelled that correctly) and be selective as to what it found! It was selective alright, it found nothing! Sibyl, Choctaw, Ok On Sat, 5 Jul 2003 03:03:01 -0600 TXREDRIV-D-request@rootsweb.com writes:
Hi, I noticed the brief question regarding the Vinyard. I descend from Matilda Vineyard Collvins, sister to Mollie. I, too, had found the family on the census, but really didn't have much information on Mollie. I have done quite a bit of research on their father, Tabler Christian Vineyard. The old family home (no longer there) and fields are part of Chickamauga National Military Park in GA. The Civil War battle was fought at their front door, literally! Cathy and others, I understand what you are saying about feeling a tie with RRC although you have never lived there. I had never been to RRC, birthplace of my grandparents as well as my mother, until about two years ago. They had left about 1920 and never returned however I remember my mother always talking about many of the places that now have become familiar to me from my three visits over the last two years. I feel that it is more my home than the town I was reared in, and have enjoyed visiting with several of those on this list. I am looking forward to another oppurtunity to meet others that have joined, or were unable to be at some of the other activities I have attended. I would probably be able to attend whenever the reunion is arranged with a couple of months notice. Just as a refresher I have ties to the Rains, Drake, Valentine Smith and Clint Bridges Families. I also am interested in the Hoover Family who ties in with the husband of one of my nieces and also my husband's brother's wife. I find it interesting that the same family has a tie with my family as well as my husband's family although neither family was reared in the same area in the last two or three generations, one in Jackson County Oklahoma and one in Lubbock County Texas. Enough for now, Pat Amarillo, Tx
Never mind - I just found her on 1880 census report with mother Ann - she was listed as M. A. TIDDLE so Scott must have died between 1874 and 1880. Thanks anyway. Charmaine
Good morning - cant wait till we all get together sometime soon when it is not hot:) Does anybody have VINYARDs in their family? I am specifically looking for Mollie VINYARD who married (Winfield) Scott TITTLE (TUTTLE) in Red River Co. in 1874.
