Thank you so much. Many on the site know that I like to get up early, get my cup of coffee, then go out on my back deck, and look at things I wonder how Darwin could even dream was like he says. Well, believe me, things have really looked brighter from my little perch on my deck, and I just thank GOD more and more for letting me enjoy HIS things of beauty. Sometimes I need a little shaking up to keep things in perspective, and I had a good one. Thanks again and GOD bless. Carrie, (and all) I did talk to Gene Weaver at Avery last Saturday. If you remember, he and his brother Floyd Weaver are basketball and baseball players from Pecan Gap. Floyd pitched a little in the pros. They both played at Paris Junior College. Gene still has a nice 1957 Chevy that he obtained in the 70s or 80s. They put Gene's name on the new gym at Avery. Also talked with Bruce Duncan, Valarie Mann, Ollie Vasquez, Willie Joe Warren, a Mr Stidhman that knew some of my Giddens of the English area, and many others. In Pittsburg today I meet a Don Emery that is/was a cousin to Red Emery of Clarksville. Don was born and raised at Brewster south of Clarksville. I never knew him. I think he is in his early 50s. Tom, did you know these Emery people. Red had the Humble station on west main and announce the high school football games at the stadium when I was playing. We would listen to them play it on KCAR the following Saturday morning. Red has two sons a little younger than me, Randy and Kenney. Randy was head football coach at Highland Park (Dallas) for about one year after Frank Beavers retired. Those were big shoes to attempt to fill. This was around 1990 but don't remember the exact year. Sibyl, I hope you don't mind that I have forwarded your e-mail to a friend to see if he has any helpful information in his massive data base. Also the Salem Cemetery is also listed as Boxelder Cemetery in some files. My files show the "contact person" for Boxelder Cemetery is Sharon Floyd , Rt 1, Box 149, Annona, Tx 75550. Phone number 903 697-2277. I show this because it is listed on a public list of Treasurers of Cemeteries in Red River County. Note, this person is the treasurer to collect donations, she may not have the information you need. I will let you know if I learn any more. Many of my anscestors are buried in Salem Baptist cemetery and attended there when they lived in Red river Co. They were Heath's. At one time I saw a headstone for my ggf, Henry G. Oh Sam! Bless your heart! That's sooooo scary, and I know it hurts real bad, 'cause my Mama told me. You just mind the doctors, and rest for a little while, because they're going to put you to work in rehab! It's just amazing what they can do these days. Drugs to remodel your heart through cardiovascular excercises! Who'd have thought!?! Take care and we'll send our prayers. Hi group, My husband and I were at Box Elder today and the Salem Baptist Church and all buildings look very good and usable. There was no one there but it is odd to see an unused church or anything that well kept and not used. The cemetery is in great shape and ready for the kin to visit after the Bishop reunion Saturday at South Lake. There are a lot of Batchelors and Bishops buried there. This is our 2nd time to go there in about 2 years and it is funny how much it seems like things have changed in that time - nothing is like I remembered it. LOL -however I found all the kin I was looking for but I'm sure I missed a lot of others. My grandmother was a Bishop and she married a Batchelor. We were also in Clarksville for a little while and will be back on Saturday. It is intersting to see all the places we have heard about on the RRCo list. Keep up the great stories.
