Of course there is room on the County GenWeb page. I have been thinking about photographing a cemetery myself. Does anybody have a picture of a front gate or overall picture of a cemetery that I don't have? I have been doing a few and others have sent me pictures, but there are lots that I do not have. The cemeteries that I visit are all on the north and east side of the county. Also, I am starting a section with pictures of county landmarks--old buildings, historical markers, etc. I have had some for quite a while and that is going to be my next project. I can't believe I have found people on this list with my same birthdate...July 21st was a good day I guess... Ya know Robin Williams was born on July 21st....so was Don Knotts and John Lovitz...some great comedians...one other that I care to mention is Ernest Hemingway.... Hello everyone, It has been a busy summer that is for sure. Between trying to nail down this contract job as a permanent position, which looks good, and just trying to keep up with everything my research has taken a big dip. The time I do have I spend in Parker County Cemeteries taking pictures and recording information about them. I have actually started a website that will include my family research, but will also cover Texas Cemeteries. My current project is to photograph every tombstone in every cemetery in Parker County. I have already completed 4 or 5 cemeteries and have about another 5 half done. The problem is not photoing everything it is sorting it all out and putting it in a spreadsheet to upload to the website. Once I get a little more information up I will forward on the link. I have a few hundred pictures from Red River County, but I really need to make another trip up and do some serious photoing....maybe during that get together that everyone was talking about so much...I would love to meet everyone.... My Dad always thought he knew the place (area) some lost Spanish gold was buried in RR Co. My grandson and I plan to have a look some day. To me it will be a way for me and my grandson to honor my Dad's tales of yesteryear and another memory that would stick in his mind. It certainly would sick in my mind too if we found gold. The owner of the land died less than a year ago. I had talked with him about it. Not sure who owns the land now, I think the son sold it. I was feeling left out too - must be the hot summer weather - no one feels like doing anything. Happy Birthday Jim! Sorry l didn't remember on time....take care... jan & tom brodie
I guess from the quick responses that I received, everyone is monitoring the list but no one is talking much. At least everyone appears to be holding their own. Jim, congratulations on the great-grandchild, the live-in grandchild and the raise. It seems you have gotten more than your fair share of good fortune - how about spreading some of that to the rest of us? I know you work hard to help others on their various family lines when you can and sharing your stories and knowledge is a constant source of entertainment and pleasure for a lot of us. I'm a believer in you reap what you sow, and your happiness and good fortune appear to be the results. I hope everyone else is doing as well. He will be a freshman. We pick him up at his mother's home in Garland, Tx tomorrow. Yesterday was my birthday and I spent 3 hours of it weed-eating at Concord Cemetery while Sue as at the hospital. I get great pleasure working the old family cemetery. Oh yeah, my wife got me that $200 metal detector for my BD. Now I need to read the instructions to get the best out of it. I am also dealing with the IRS about the year 2000 and tomorrow Tom finished up my wife's dental work. She will be grinning from ear to ear. Hey, I also go a nice raise "today". Other than all this, things are normal. The Paris News today says ABC-TV out of Shreveport will tape a program this Wednesday on the square in Clarksville and is schedule to be shown Thursday morning. I do not know if this will be shown on the entire ABC network, or just Shreveport Ch-3 Probably just Shreveport. They will be interviewing officials including the county judge, mayor and Becky Hale of Main Street program. Jim G
