    3. I honesty thought of saying reddish/brown, because I was not thinking red red. I still think I remember Rachel. How old is she or what year did she graduate from Clarksville. The girl I have in mind would be a year or 2 older than me, I was 64 in July. Many of my wife's folks "Townes" are buried at Lone Star as is my GGGG GF in a lost grave of 1854. 3. Way back in the old days, the Donoho Hotel was located on the same spot where the Hub was located many years later. There is a combination antique shop/historical display in the old Hub building now that is named " The Donoho" in honor of the old hotel. Mary Hausler, retired county clerk, operates the Donoho shop. Donoho Street in Clarksville was also named for the family who ran the old hotel. There is a book written in 1991 about the widow who operated the Donoho Hotel. It's titled, "Mary Donoho, New First Lady of the Santa Fe Trail". And one quote from a newspaper article says that the Donoho family crossed over the Santa Fe Trail and landed in Santa Fe (New Mexico) in 1833. They had a hotel there for a while before coming back east to Clarksville and settling down to stay. Interesting to read if you like local history. You can still see the columns that mark the old location; however, the front door to the present entrance is flush with the columns and other fronts along that way. 3. Hello Mr. Tom. I read many posts about different things there in Clarksville in years past, and I keep looking for one that I remember, yet, I never have heard about it, but I bet you do. It was Sivel's (spell??) drive inn. It was just off of West Main. Seems like it was about half a block South of West Main, don't remember the exact address, but I do remember the place. 3. I don't know about his father, but George was running the Parks Grocery and Parks Apts on west Main in Clarksville where Hwy 37 turns toward Bogata. George was probably in his 90s when he died recently. Could easily be more than one George Parks. The Apts were actually Parks Motel but sometime later, there were converted to apts. Probably about 6 or 8 units. For us teens in the 50, this was the turn around and go back spot when dragging (cursing) main, the other end was the Top Drive-Inn (ice-cream) or the ball park. We would usually visit and talk at the Top each time we drug main. 3. Thanks Bob, Such matters of interest pertaining to Red River Co is what gives "life" to this board without going off on tangents. I for one appreciate you input. For those that may not know, Bob use to be with the Paris News until about 2 or 3 years age. One of his projects was to write articles from time to time about old cemeteries in the area. Most that I recall were of cemeteries in RR Co. I really enjoyed his articles as many other did. It is my understanding that the News ordered him to stop the cemeteries stories. I am glad to see him on this board, he will be a big asset. I thin Bob now lives in Sulphur Springs, Tx, but not sure of that. The first time I ever met Bob face to face was when he was still with the News and I was there for some reason, don't even remember why. Anyway, the mention of Red River County must have came up, and he provided me with some information on my GGG GF that I had never seen before and plugged in a information gap for me. We have exchange (questions by me) a few e-mails over the last couple of years and he has always been helpful.
