    3. According to HISTORY OF PARKER COUNTY: "The Debusk family arrived in Parker County in the 1870's. Jonathan and Clarissa purchased 83 acres five miles south of Weatherford in 1877. In September of 1877 they donated four acres to the Methodist Episcopal Church on Spring Creek five miles southeast of Weatherford. Jonathan, a Methodist Circuit Rider, was engaged in farming in Parker County. He was one of the first men to preach at Holder's Chapel. .... "Phillip's [son of Jonathon and Clarissa] first teaching job was at Red Mud or, as it was later known, Debusk School. . . . (above taken from article written by Eleanor R. Edmondson, p257-8] >From the same source: DeBusk School: The first DeBusk ro "Red Mud" School, as it was commony called was probably built about 1880. This school was located in western Parker County near the present town of Cool. The one room log building was "chinked" with red mud dug from the surrounding area where it derived the name "Red Mud." ... [from an article by Nona DeBusk, pp29-30] There is a very long article on Holders Chapel United Methodist Church {pp. 34-40). It was written by Nona DeBusk. This book was published in1980 by the Parker County Historical Commission. I'm sure it is at the Weatherford Library in the historical room. If you can't find a copy, let me know. - Jo Ann Kendrick Robinson paul wrote: > Kermit, > > Thank you for answering my query.
