    3. I'm sorry for upsetting anyone over the courthouse question. I didn't know it was in Tarrant Co. I know you don't think that question had to do with genealogy but I wanted to know why my grandparents went there in that time period. Thanks to Kermit the information he gave me told me my greatgrand father Louis Curtiss was one of the arhcitechs for that building which I did not know before. I guess its time to unsubscribe from this list. Maybe the list owner should chill out a little and let matters die out on their own. 1. [TXPARKER-L] Early Marriages in Parker Co. Texas
    2. shirleyreynolds
    3. Someone out there help me if you can. I'm looking for any marriages in 1850's - 1860's for Beadles and Nolen/Nolin/Nolands there in Parker County. My understanding is that Parker Co. Texas was formed in 1855 out of Bosque and Navarro counties. How far back do the marriage records go for Parker County? Looking for marriage record of Thomas J. Nolen born about 1835 in Missouri and Emeline F. Beadle born about 1837 in Tennessee. A brother to Thomas, William P. Nolen born 1841 in Missouri, either married a sister of Emeline's or married Emeline after Thomas died. Isaac M. Nolen Jr., brother to William and Thomas married Emeline's sister, Dorcas Lee Beadle sometime early 1870's - possibly in Parker or Hood Co. Texas. Any help appreciated. Always looking for Nolen - Casady - Baxter - Wilson - Dillard in Texas. S. J. Reynolds

Actually I've been hoping this topic would die a natural death because I am a pretty lenient listowner. And I thought perhaps since Parker Co was on the edge of civilization for awhile that perhaps Parker Co. residents may have conducted some of their business in Tarrant Co. However this mailing list is about Parker Co. history and genealogy not Tarrant County. Perhaps this topic could be moved to the Tarrant Co. Mailing list where an even wider audience might be interested. However if you want to talk about the history of the Parker County courthouse..... Lela

    2. Kermit Rutledge
    3. Carolyn, I guess that I could write to you personally, because I keep expecting someone to come on and opine that courthouses have nothing to do with genealogy. Another list I subscribe to complained that cemeteries and the preservation thereof was not!! I couldn't believe what I read. But then, that's just my opinion. To quote from the information I have on the Tarrant County courthouse: "In a period when Texas architects were designing some of the nation's greatest public buildings, Tarrant officials went to Missouri for their architects. Louis CURTISS and Frederick DUNN formed a partnership that became a pioneer in the use of concrete and structural steel". The above information was taken from an article written by Bill Morgan, Sunnyvale, TX. Kermit Rutledge Abilene, TX

    1. Re: [TXPARKER-L] Lefors Families
    2. Janis, If there is a connection, it is not in my direct line. My Thomas Henry did have a brother named Henry, but I believe they stayed in Benton Co. AR. Our line comes from La Force in VA, LeForce in KY, in MO. it was spelled Lefore, Leforz, Lefors and various other spellings. I have not done much research on the Leflore name, but I was aware of it. There are some LeForce's in OK, who are very distant cousins of mine. Thank you for your response. And good luck with your research. Who knows we may find a connection someday? Pat

    1. Re: [TXPARKER-L] Lefors Families
    2. Hi Pat, I was wondering if you knew where your Lefors family came from and if they could possibly be connected to the Leflore's who were Choctaw Indian? The reason I ask is that my GGG Grandfather Henry Jefferson was brother-in-law to Chieftain Greenwood Leflore and after his first wife died he married Isabelle Leflore. He and Isabelle came to Tarrant County about 1860. One son James D. Jefferson lived on the Tarrant, Parker, and Wise County line. Thought if you were having trouble tracing your Lefors, you might want to check out the possible connection to the Leflore's. I couldn't help notice the name of your ancestor Thomas Henry Lefors, I believe that Henry's father name was Thomas and do know his first son was named Thomas. Since the 1860 of Tarrant County is missing I do not know the name of the children Henry and Isabelle had but I do believe that there was one girl with the initials M. J., which would match your Martha Jane Lefors. Henry was born in N.C. and Isabella was born in Mississippi. The Leflores were from Mississippi and Oklahoma. If you see that there might be a connection I would love to hear from you. Good Luck, Janis

    1. [TXPARKER-L] Lefors Families
    2. Parker Co List Readers, I have not posted for some time, my interest is the LeFors families, who lived in the Hog Branch area, just south of Boyd, Wise Co. and the northern part of Parker Co. Thomas Henry LeFors, Ben LeFors, Letitia Lefors White, wife of Dr. Charles; Martha Jane Lefors Moore wife of Joshua; Sarah Lefors Hunt, wife of Alf; and Hettie Lefors Warren, wife of James H. Most of them came to this area around 1875-1885. My grandfather Thomas Henry died in 1910, he was married to Elizabeth Ann Stokes and Margaret M. Jennings. Margaret died in 1936, all three of them are buried in the Stokes Cemetery, Wise Co. Pat Lefors Dawson daughter of John Thomas (Tommie) Lefors, a Wise Co. native.

    3. Nell, I'm not searching the surname Reed but just thought I'd ask if you have found a connection with MITCHELL in your REED search. My heartfelt thinking is, my John Reed Mitchell 1814 AL-1891 Parker Co., TX is carrying a family name with that middle name. But can't find anything to back up my thoughts. 3. Hello to all. I'm seeking information about the SHORTs of Parker County. My ggrandmother, Anna J. SHORT RIPPLE, came to Parker County with her son, William Lee SHORT (my ggrandfather), around the 1870s. Will married Sarah Alice LENTS, who came from Kentucky with her family (Davidson LENTS, father) in the 1880s, in 1888. The Shorts lived in and around Poolville for many years. I'd appreciate any information on these families. 3. Anytime someone "lost" something they sent to the list, you can always go and search for it here: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl Be aware that you must put in the name of the list to find it and search.. ie; Parker County will not bring the TXParker list up... BUT TXParker will, then you can search :) This is what I pulled with the name DURRETT. there was some Howard info but Im not sure what you are looking for.. best to search for it yourself :) Traci Parsons-Holder Aledo, Parker Co., TX ============================================================ Date: Mon, 1 Feb 1999 12:10:12 -0800 From: "Corine RANSOM" <corine@peak.org> To: TXPARKER-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <00c301be4e1e$f50232e0$6a1644c6@corine> Subject: Re: [TXPARKER-L] Roll Call Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I am serching for information on the sons of Solomon DURRETT who is listed on the on the Petition to create Parker County, Texas in 1855.
