    3. G.W. Cain may be George W Cain b 3/31/1852, d 7/20/1934 buried in Weatherford's Greenwood Cemetery. Two others with the surname of Cain are buried in that cemetery: Sarah E Cain b 9/9/1856, d 6/25/1931 Pat Cain b 2/14/1896, d 10/21/1929 (comment in the notes is that this is the son of M&M G W Cain) There are several other Cains buried in Parker County in various other cemeteries. Do you have any names you are looking for? - Jo Ann Kendrick Robinson SUSAN BURNS wrote: > I have just found an obituary in Grayson County TX which states G.W. > Cain died there while visiting his daughter, however, his body was > returned to Weatherford, TX for burial. 3. Nathan and Margaret Watson are listed on the 1850 census of Jackson Parish, LA. They came into TX with Oliver Loving following a cattle drive into central LA. They came to Parker Co. TX in 1856 and settled on the Clear Fork of the River, known as Veal's Station. Their 2 youngest children were born in Jackson Parish, LA. A son, Francis Marion Watson (my gggf) in 1849 and Hannah Elmeta in 1853.On the 1860 census all were at home, then with the advent of the Civil War and marriagble ages of daughters, nearly everyone was gone from home by 1870. Margaret Watson, the mother died in April of 1870. Of the 3 oldest boys, one was injured and died in the Civil War, one was kicked in the head by a mule and died, the other took string of horses to Arkansas after the war and died there supposedly of Chicken Pox. 2of the girls, Mary Ann Watson Drum and Adeline Corina Watson Stevens, died in childbirth. Hannah married Warren B. McClesky and they raised a large family there in the county. Nathat died in 1888 and son Francis Marion sold out everything and moved west to Palo Pinto County. 3. Kay I don't believe I will be of any help. I am not related to Coleman's but my gggrandmother, Rebecca Carter's stepmother was a Coleman. Nancy COLEMAN b. abt 1818 in Jefferson Tn. m. Geo. W. CARTER. abt. 1849. According to the LDS search site she had a 2 or 3 Children. The family lived in Cocke Co. Tn. Rebecca left with her husband and children in the early 1870's she left Tn. Her husband died in Mo. and her brother Crockett brought them on to Texas where they settled in Parker Co/Tarrant Co/Wise Co area. Crockett's mother was Nancy Coleman. I was trying to find out if anyone else in the family made the journey with them. I don't know who Nancy's parents were.....Does anything sound familiar? Charlotte

    3. Hello Kay, I read your Coleman message on the List and checked my index again....found a Coleman married into my Drennan family. Do you have a Clara Bell Coleman in your family. She probably married/lived in the Opal/Springtown community or thereabouts. 1. CLARA BELL1 COLEMAN was born March 14, 1903, and died November 1986 in Elmore City, Oklahoma. She married AMOS DRENNAN, son of LENIUS DRENNAN and MILLIE BLACKWELL. Shirley

    3. Dear Charlotte, My Colemans came to Texas from McNairy Co, TN and prior to that the ancestor was from North Carolina. There is some possibility that this line originated in Pennsylvania, but there is too little proof and a few generational gaps which must be filled in first: John Coleman, Sr. - b. 1784 NC, d. ca. 1865-70 TN John Coleman, Jr. - b. 1817 NC, d. June 1864 (Union Army) Memphis, TN Rufus M. Coleman - b. 25 Feb 1841 McNairy Co, TN,; d. 3 Feb 1892 Wise Co,TX Asa Marvin Coleman - b. 3 Sep 1886 Parker Co, TX; m. 8 Sep 1907 Wise Co,TX; d. 6 Sep 1966 Tarrant Co, TX Lois Marie Coleman (Ward)- b. 4 July 1908 Wise Co, TX, m. 16 Feb 1926 Tarrant Co, TX -(my mother - still living in Tarrant Co, TX.) Hope we connect! Kay Davis

    1. Re: [TXPARKER-L] Courthouses
    2. kay w. davis
    3. Ditto Jo Ann Robinson, I have ancestors who straddled the line between Parker and Tarrant for the last 150+/- years including myself and my husband. His relatives first were in Parker in 1854 (Robertson, Blocker, Harrison) and mine came to Parker around 1875+/- (Coleman). Others of my lines came to Wise County in the 1870's (Thomas, Ray, Whitley) and still others to Tarrant in 1876 (Ward/ Forshall/ Behringer). Besides weren't Parker and Tarrant all one big county (Navarro) at one time? As a long time teacher I find any question worth answering. Someone wasn't very tolerant with their rebuke about the courthouse info. I hope the attitude portrayed with the comment won't be assumed to be held by all of us. Sincerely, Kay Davis

    2. Jo Ann Robinson
    3. Dear Carolyn, Sorry to hear that there has been a brouhaha over the courthouse questions. It is my opinion that sometimes a little leeway over discussions should be tolerated, especially when the counties are next door to each other. In the 'old days' people were known to have done business at the closest place, whether it was in 'their' county or not. My grandfather's birth was registered in the neighboring county because it was closer than his own, and we like to have never tracked it down and straightened it out. So I guess I'm a bit more tolerant of those who seek help in 'neighboring' counties when on the track of ancestor information. I guess the trick is to get your clues and take the detailed discussions offline until the final resolution. Thanks for posting the answer that you received however, since when I'm lurking and reading the postings I often wonder if the answers were ever found. Good luck on the Tarrent County list. - Jo Ann Kendrick Robinson
