Unless someone elso knows something that I don't, there is no seperate Catholic cemetary in Weatherford. And I doubt if there is one in Parker County especially for Catholics. I don't have the dates in front of me, but the Catholic Church has been in town a good, long while. The original chapel is on South Main street and is very pretty, old style architecture. There is a new church built on the south side of town. Gary ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
I would suggest contacting the Catholic Church in Weatherford, and talking to the Priest or Monsigneur (sp). The church would surely know, I'd think. Also find out how long the Catholic Church has been established in Weatherford. Weatherford is such a fortress of Southern Baptists, and Church of Christ'ers that there may never have been a separate cemetary set aside for the Catholic faith.
Does anyone know anything about a Catholic Cemetery in Parker Co. or Weatherford? or is there a Catholic section in one of the larger cemeteries? Thanks, Lela
Thanks, Linda, I will try to locate the book you mentioned & if i locate one will let you know. Have enjoyed the info you sent on this. nitauno@aol.com
For those that were interested in the 1873 hanging of the HILL women near Springtown --- I've learned that the incident and the HILL women were used to write a fictional book. It is "Creed #7 - Betrayed" by Bryce Hart, 1992, Berkly Books, Western Novel. I haven't located it to read it but hope to do so someday. Pat, Lizzie Durrett filed an Indian Depredation Case File (#4914) with the US Government. You can learn more about the Indian Depredation Case Files on my web site at http://shell.rmi.net/~pacarter/depredations.html If you are interested in getting the file, you will have to send to the National Archives for it per the instructions on my web page. I just have an index to the files.
Thank you Marile for your generous offer! Would you please look for any DURRETT [DERRET, various spelling] and/or William Harrison SAUNDERS, Jesse SAUNDERS, Abner SAUNDERS, and/or Thomas H.
