    1. [TXPARKER] BECK & BLACKWELL
    2. Joanne Anderson
    3. Does anyone know the descendants of Allen Beck who came to Texas before 1900 and died in Springtown in 1935? His children were Luther, Arthur and Pearl who married a Blackwell (all now deceased). Some names of Allen's grandchildren may have been Garland, Joe and Odes. Any clues would be appreciated. 1. [TXPARKER] LESTER/TANNER family
    2. Patsy Davis
    3. Hello, once again I will ask about these folks in case someone may have come across info on them since the last time. I am looking for information on Charles (Charley) or Fannie LESTER. I only know that they were in Parker Co in 1896 when my gr gr grandmother, Adeline TANNER, applied for a Union widows pension in Parker Co. Their signatures were on the application attesting to her identity. Adeline had a daughter 'Fannie' listed with her on the 1880 Cherokee Co, AL census so I'm wondering if this is the same Fannie now in Parker Co, TX. I don't know why Adeline was in TX, she later turns up back in AL and on the application lists her address as Calhoun Co, AL. I am trying to trace my gr gr grandfather, Silas TANNER, who joined the Union army in Rome GA in 1864 then deserted two months later. His wife states he died Oct 4, 1875 but not where. We have lost track of him after 1864 as neither he nor his family has been found on the census in 1870 in AL, GA or TX. Any tidbit of help would be appreciated. Thanks, Patsy Spradley Davis -- http://home.earthlink.net/~davisdwd/ ICQ #15893205 patsydavis@geocities.com

    1. Re: [TXPARKER] Can anyone help? Shirley/Davis?
    2. Hello Traci, Yes, I am tracing the Shirley family. I have little to no information about them. They may have had a boarding house there in Parker County. That is all the information I have on them at this time. Thank you, Jan Traci Parsons-Holder wrote: > Are you researching the Shirley's ? I want to make sure before I send > what little I have... 1. [TXPARKER] Can anyone help? Shirley/Davis?
    2. Hello Parker County, I am new to this list and seeking any information about my great grandmother Martha "Mindy" Armenda Davis Shirley that was adopted by Rev. Bob Shirley and his wife Sina that lived in Parker County (maybe near Whitt) in 1870. "Mindy" was born May 12, 1870. Family story says she was left on the doorstep of Rev. Bob Shirley. He heard a noise on the porch and when he went to check found the newborn baby. He caught a glimpse of a rider on a white horse riding away but could not tell if it was a man or a woman. He rode throughout the county looking for anyone that owned such a horse but the only one he found appeared not to have been ridden lately. When my grandmother applied for her Social Security Card she listed her mothers maiden name as Martha Armenda Davis Shirley. "Mindy" married Boyd Alonzo Michael on January 27, 1889 in Whitt, Parker Co, TX at the age of 18. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jan Gray

    1. [TXPARKER] BUTLER-WILLIAMSON-MOORE
    2. My earliest known Butler ancestor was John Butler, b. abt 1790 and died 1858 in Gibson Co., TN. His children were: Clarissa Caroline BUTLER m. Henry WILLIAMSON 14-Dec-1856 in TN James H. Butler - married Elizabeth Unknown. Had a son George Butler. Patsy Butler - m. Unknown HUTSON. Dau. Mary Jane m. R. G. MOORE 26-Oct-1854. Saphronia Butler Little Ray Richard F. Butler John Bedford Butler Nancy Jane Butler Ledufsia Butler - b. abt 1843 - m. James T. HOLT 10-Apr-1860, Gibson Co., TN Jesse G. Butler Of the people above, most are accounted for. A Williamson researcher has told me that Clarissa C and Henry WILLIAMSON moved to Parker Co., TX in 1859. An uncle of James T. HOLT (Harrison Holt) was already living in Parker Co. We have lost Mary Jane HUTSON and R. G. MOORE; George BUTLER and wondered if they "moved West" with the Williamson's or followed them. Is anyone researching these families in Parker County? 2. Dear Lela - Would you be able to tell me if any Speer names appear in those books? If my people are there I'll order them. But I can't afford to spend the money if they're not there. My gggrandfather, John F. Speer, is buried in the Old Greenwood Cemetary in Weatherford along with his grandson, Alvin Speer, but I haven't been able to find his wife, Jane, or his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Sprout Brien Speer. She might be buried in Palo Pinto Co but Jane prob. died in Weatherford. Hope you can help and Thanks! Billie Gilmore - Thompson Falls, MT

The Northeast should be out in a few weeks and I will let you know when it is available. I don't have a list of the cemeteries in each of the books but I will put them online as soon as I receive my book. Lela

    2. I have been told that the City of Weatherford Cemetery Book that was just published has some missing pages in the index. MAS through NALL is missing. They are publishing an addendum to the book and it will be given to anyone who has ordered a book. Unfortunately they do not have a list of people who have bought books. Box 201, Weatherford, TX The Southern Half of the County has been republished and The NorthEast Quadrant is now available at http://www.sukoshi.com/txparker/orderform.html The NorthWest Quadrant should be available soon. 3. Hi Lela, there is a large Catholic Sec. in the Memory Gardens Cem. between Weatherford and Mineral Wells on Hwy 180 about 6 miles or so West of Weatherford. This is the only that i know of, that a section set aside for for Cathloics. There may be others. 1. [TXPARKER] Pythian Home
    2. Jan Wallace
    3. I thought that I would add this info about the Pythian Home. I have relatives that lived in the Pythian Home in Weatherford after the deaths of their parents. There is a book that I bought "75 Years of Benevolent Service, A History of the Texas Pythian Home 1909-1984" when I visited it several years ago. The main building of the "Widows and Orphans Home and Industrial School" was opened to its first residents on March 1, 1909. The boys and girls dorms and hospital building were erected later. The Knights of Pythia was and is a fraternal order that was formed just after the Civil War, the first Lodge was in Washington D.C., formed in 1864. The initiation consisted on three Ranks of Knighthood: Page, Esquire, and Knight. The three lessons portrayed in each Rank being Friendship, Charity and Benevolence. In addition to the Knights (for men), there was also the Rathbone sisters and the Pythian Sisters. If anyone lives in the Parker Co. area, it is really worth going to see. It looks like a castle, it just needs a moat. Jan Wallace jwallace@flash.net
