    1. [TXPARKER] Beadle Family in Johnson Co. Texas 1850-1860
    2. shirleyreynolds
    3. Hi Barbara, I found some of the information on the Beadle family on the LDS site. The submitter is from Oakhurst, California. The Beadle family that was in Johnson County, Texas in the 1860 census was from Tennessee. The birthplace for Dorcas Lee Beadle who married Isaac M. Nolen is Henry Co., Tennessee. There are ten children listed with Henry Beadle and his wife Mary Ann. I am really leery of information from the LDS - some of it is accurate and some of it has no semblance of reality. My gr-gr-grandfather, Isaac M. Nolen Sr. is on two or three submissions - none of which are even close to being correct. But I bet since this person is in California that they are a descendant. Let me know if I can help you out any more. Shirley Jean The LDS site: http://www.familysearch.org/ My homepage for Noland - Nolen: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/r/e/y/Shirley-J-Reynolds/

    3. To the Stratton Researcher: I have, in my BLOCKER family research: Duff (later changed to Davis) Wesley "Bud" Blocker married Clarcy E. STRATTON on 25 Jan 1880 - Parker Co, TX They perhaps divorced (unusual for the time), but at any rate I then have a note that says: "Children from that marriage included Timothy Columbus who is buried in Salt Lake City, UT beside his mom." Bud Blocker later married Annie Scott on 10 March 1897 in Custer Co, OK. He was a Texas Ranger originally and perhaps more info could be obtained from the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame (and I don't mean baseball) in Waco, TX! I don't know if she married again and perhaps had a different last name, but her son's name didn't change so maybe someone in Salt Lake could help you out with burial and obit info. If there was a divorce, perhaps a record of it prior to 1897 could be found in Custer Co, OK where her husband married for the second time. Maybe she is one of A.J.'s children. An obit could tell you more about her parents hopefully. Kay Davis

    3. Saw the name Stratton in your message. My ggg grandfather had a daughter who married a son of A.J. Stratton. Here is what info I have gathered. Absolum J. Stratton born Feb 28, 1831 in Ky md Dorcas Emeline Baird who was born Oct 9, 1931 in middle Tenn. Married in 1850 in Ark. Had 4 children born there. Then moved to Parker co. Tx. Had 7 more children. Dorcas died in Parker Co and is buried at Poolville. The article I read said A.J. died in Oklahoma and is buried there. Hope this helps. Absolum's parents were: George Von Stratton md to Clara Logan and may have had a 2nd wife. This info I got from a Parker County History book. -----Original Message----- From: Ruth [mailto:Ruthgoose@prodigy.net] Sent: Monday, September 27, 1999 12:32 AM To: TXPARKER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TXPARKER]Stratton connection ----- Original Message ----- From: Ruth <Ruthgoose@prodigy.net> > In search of Doras Emerline Beard born 1833 Hickman co Tenn. 3. Copies of Confederate Pension applications from Texas are available from the Texas State Archives in Austin. I don't have the exact web site, but you can find it on most any of the Texas GenWeb county pages. You can e-mail your request, they send them to you with a minimum bill. It takes about 6 weeks but they do a very good job. I've gotten several this way. Jan

    1. Re: [TXPARKER] Search for James Hannah Woody
    2. There is an article in the Parker County History Book about a John Lawrence "Dick" and Gracie Fay (Kelley) Woody. The article mentions a John Woody who was the 12th child of Samuel and Hannah Woody. John "Dick" was apparently the son of Jim Woody who must have been the son of Samuel. Do you have this article? It was written by Mrs. Myrall B. Moore. Don't know her, but would guess that maybe she is from Parker County. Let me know if I can be of any help.

    3. Dear Karla, Requests for old pensions (any war prior to WWI) must be made on a form provided to you by the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Request as many forms (NATF - 80) for the number of persons you are inquiring about, and use one for each. You must be able to provide some info for them: Veteran's full name, branch of service, state from which he served, war in which he served, and Union or Confederate if in Civil War. There are additional blanks to fill out if you know more (like the pension application number, his widow's name, etc. You are not charged until the research is located and then they send the form back with charges to see if you wish for them to go ahead. A search with positive results used to cost $10. It is a time-consuming process, but the info received is usually valuable. Request forms from: Textual Reference Branch (NWDT1) Natl. Archives and Records Administration 7th and Pennsylvania AVE. NW Washington, DC 20408 For info regarding veteran's of WWI and WWII write to: Natl. Personnel Records Center (Military Records) NARA 9700 Page Boulevard St. Louis, MO 63132 I haven't done this, so I don't know their cost or procedure. Also valuable information can be obtained (but not the pension record maybe) from the Confederate Research Museum and Library at Hill County College in Hillsboro, TX if you know much about the veteran. Sorry I don't have their address. Kay Davis

    2. Karla, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission has a websight. A pension index can be viewed at their sight. http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/lobby/cpi/cpindex.htm Also the pension files can be ordered online from them. They will send you the file and a bill - a very modest amount. Most of my pension files I have ordered cost under $2.50 each for copies and postage. Hope this helps. 3. Anyone have connections to the Jamison/Jameson family. Frances Jameson, widow of ??? Jameson was in Parker Co in the 1880 Census with her step-daughter Henryetta, 4 yrs of age. She was living next door to her father, Jonathan Hellums. I am interested to know who she was married to, but more especially if she remarried and what happened to Henryetta.
