Hi! Jo Ann: We are searching for g-grandfather, Thomas E. Jones, died 1893 supposedly in Whitt, TX. Can you find him on any cemetery list? They are supposed to live in Jack County but my husband's grandfather was alive then and he always said that Thomas died in Whitt. Thomas C. Moore 1st or 2nd Leutenient in Captain Dave Yearys Company. John Tompkins was one of the officers. This is a calvary unit. William Greenberry Moore same as Thomas C. Moore Joe C. Moore (his father) Enlisted on Pennall Prarie (Parker County) Discharged Johnson Springs (Parker County) Camped at Johnson Springs (Parker County) I think most of these individuals were more involved in protecting the area from indian raids at the time. Whitt Cemetery is located at the junction of Highway 50 and FM 2891 (Whitt, Texas). This information is taken from the Parker County GenWeb listing of cemeteries. According to the USGS site, Whitt is a populated place, 1131 feet elevation at latitude 325722 N and 0980107W, in Parker County Texas. I believe that is in the northwest section of the county. I have one King groom listed in the family records. He was Walter H King. He married Elizabeth Jane Higgins in 1888 in Parker County. - Jo Ann Kendrick Robinson Joyce Locke wrote: > I would like to contact anyone researching the family of Joshua Garrett > KING and second wife, Frances Elizabeth LADD who died in Whitt, Parker > Co. > > Information just received indicates that birth and death dates are from > their tombstones. I don't know of a Witt, Parker Co., I'm in Calif. but have you tried De Witt, TX? Sometimes it is the one item that doesn't get translated in the info we have. My mother said, LLantha, for Iolanthe. So even tho people know, it is the spelling that gets us. Witt, in Parker Co., may be true, and someone there may answer you. But I just thought you may want to try another site, just in case. Goerge, Sorry, I don't have a Moore in my line. However, there is a Wm. G. Moore who filed an indian deprediation file with the government. The file number was # 685. See my web page at http://shell.rmi.net/~pacarter/depredations.html for more in the case files. The index has a number of Moores listed so if you can give me names, I will look them up for you. There are no dates, places - just names and case file numbers - in the index. Paul George Lee wrote: > > Dear Paul, > > Are you in contact with any descendants of William G.
