    1. White family in Mingus
    2. Patrick R. Nelson
    3. Looking for information about: Maxwell WHITE, who lived in/around Mingus, Palo Pinto County, Texas around 1899. Max had a brother named Herbert. Max married an Alice HALL (1869-ca.1944) and they had 2 children, Read N.WHITE (my grandfather, b. 16 Aug1899 in Mingus), who ended up in Amarillo, then El Paso; and Doyle WHITE. I know very little about the White side of my family and would appreciate any assistance. The story goes that Max up and left the family during the depression, but I have no details. Also, I found an old obit in my grandmother's things for a Joseph Conway WHITE, so assume he was related. Any information would be greatly appreciated.Thanks. Pat prnelson@one.net

    3. Hi Paul, Don't know if you've yet received a response yet. The Brazos River does run through Palo Pinto Co., TX. However, I'm unsure about the tornado between 1877 and 1880. What surnames are you researching? 1. PALO PINTO-L - BUTLER/DILL/DALTON
    2. D. Tate
    3. Hello all, Am hoping someone out there has heard of my gg grandfather, F.G. BUTLER... I'm searching for information on my gg grandfather Felix Grundy/Gundy BUTLER aka F.G. b. 22 FEB 1837 in AR, d. 15 Apr 1905 in Vernon, Wilbarger Co., TX according to family bible records. F.G. BUTLER married my gg grandmother Malissia Elsa Lucilla Ann DILL 3 SEP 1872 in Jack Co., TX according to marriage records. Malissia DILL was born 13 NOV 1854 in AL, d. 11 Nov. 1926, Vernon, Wilbarger Co., TX. Her father, William B. DILL was born in TN, her mother, Eliza L. AMILTOU? in AL. My gg grandmother had previously been married to John DALTON d. 1871 Tarrant Co., TX, son of Thomas DALTON b. ca 1795 VA, d. 01 JAN 1873, Tarrant Co., TX. The Jack Co., TX probate records indicate F.G. BUTLER was awarded guardianship of DALTON, John, Minor, 18 mo. of age, 7 AUG 1873. I've located F.G. BUTLER in Parker Co., TX 1880 & Tarrant Co., TX 1900 census records. Census information varies for him. There is a contradiction about the birth place of his parents. 1880 census indicates the FBP as VA, 1900 indicates FBP as MO. I've also located F.G. BUTLER as an original land owner in Parker Co., TX. However, I have been unsuccessful in locating any information on his parents or siblings. My great aunt, now 84 recalls my great grandmother telling stories about grandfather Felix G. BUTLER. My g. grandmother tearfully recalled that her daddy wandered around with a nap sack and came occasionally to see the younger sons he left behind. His history is elusive and a remains a mystery. Children by Felix Grundy BUTLER and Malissia Elsa Lucilla Ann DILL DALTON Mary BUTLER b. 1874 Malissia Josephine BUTLER b. 1876, Parker Co., TX ** My g. grandmother Robert Nickadamus BUTLER b. 1879 William Henry BUTLER b. 1882 Maude BUTLER b. 1883 James BUTLER b. 1887 Alexander "Aleck" BUTLER b. 1890 Infant Twin Sister to Alexander Minnie Lee BUTLER b. 1894 Infant Twin Brother to Minnie According to the 1900 Parker Co., TX Census: F.G. 1. Texas Landmark Project
    2. Frank Saffarrans
    3. Hello again, More on the new TXGenWeb Project: "Texas Landmarks and Vanished Communities." Answers to FAQ: What Is The Objective Of The Texas Landmark Project: The objective of the landmark and vanished communities web pages is to highlight and give focus to the geographical locations of historical landmarks and communities. The prime focus is the actual location on a map. The prime vehicle for accomplishing this is the US Census TIGER map System. Submitters should include a brief description of the feature and may also include a link to another web page for more detailed information. What is Texas Landmark Project Motto? "If grandpa talked or wrote about it then it should be listed in the Texas Landmarks and Vanished Communities Index." What Land Marks Should Be Included? River bends, Valleys, grist mills, cotton gins, river crossings, bridges ferries, battles, hangings, cemeteries, churches, schools, colleges, pioneer ranches and farms, communities, blacksmith shops, stage stands, forts, hills, mountains, homesteads, trading posts, oil camps, ice works, bottling works, etc, etc. This includes information on who various landmarks such as as valleys, rivers and creeks were named after. What Are Some Consideration Concerning Names Of Llandmarks? River bends and Crossings: The USGS map makers only have the option of placing one name for a feature on their map. They use what they deemed the most generally used name. Consider the names of river bends - we have a number of them in Hood County. Most of the bends went by several names in the 1880's. The names of prominent landowners were usually used but there usually were several prominent land owners in the bend, hence several names. The maps today name one Brazos river bend, Walters Bend but you will find historical documents that call it Chicken Gristle Bend as well as Chicken Bristle bend. Our local historian says "the feature names on maps are nothing but gossip and the map maker only talked to a few gossips." People on one side of the river called river crossings by one name where people on the other side gave it another name. Some river bends on USGS maps do not have a name at all but the locals have a name for it. We want to preserve all of these names. Naming variations are also common for other type features as well. To Whom Do These TxGenWeb Texas Landmark Project County Web Pages Belong.?? They belong to the TxGenWeb county coordinator and other county researchers, Genealogical and Historical organizations who submit landmark data. The Moderator, Wayne Moyers and General Administrator, Frank Saffarrans are the caretakers with the main task of providing continuity. What Do You Mean By "Belongs To"? Each landmark submitted is "branded" in the submitters column with the name and address of the individual or organization that submitted the data. In a sense if you "brand" it then it belongs to you and therefore you "own" a piece of Texas. Remember Maverick? - Or is it like the homestead law? This "branded" business is just a game to give credit to those deserving people and organizations that submit data. You may find your county listed in the Landmark & Vanished Communities Index at: http://www.hcnews.com/~landmark. TxGenWeb County Coordinators, Genealogical Societies, Historical Societies and individual researchers are encouraged to submit landmark data on those places they are familiar with. With your help the Texas landmark Page will soon be a valuable Texas data source for genealogical and historical researchers world wide. How to Submit data: Do you have some landmark information but don't remember how to use latitude and longitude or don't remember how to determine Latitude and longitude? Check out our Map Blast Instructions at: http://www.hcnews.com/~landmark/mapblast.htm Or Tiger Map Service at: http://www.hcnews.com/~landmark/tiger.htm What is coming up next? We will be adding a web page where you may post queries on Vanished Communities and Landmarks. If you have a landmark with an unknown location you may post a query here and maybe someone will see it and give us the correct location. To those organizations and individuals who are presently submitting landmark data - WE THANK YOU, Keep up the good work!!!. 1. Texas landmarks and Vanished Communities: Palo Pinto County
    2. Frank Saffarrans
    3. Hello Sue Seibert, Palo Pinto County Coordinator and all txpalopi-l recipients; TxGenWeb needs your help. TxGenWeb has a new project - Index of Landmarks and Vanished Communities. A page has been set up with the basic USGS data for your county. Provisions are made for you and others to submit additional data on your county concerning landmarks; vanished communities; historical churches, schools, cotton gins, grist mills, river crossings, river bends; current and historical cemeteries, historical buildings (log cabins, family farms, early homes and businesses. etc.). In earlier times landmarks were known by several names. We would like to list them all. If grandpa talked about it we would like to give it a location - with the help of researchers in your local area. You will note that "clicking" on the feature name will take you to a page showing tabular data ; then "click" on "Show Feature Location " and you will taken you to the map. You may then "Zoom In" to get more detailed information. The initial Landmark and Vanished Communities County pages do not contain data in the description column as the USGC data did not include this information. The submittal form may be used for you and other researchers to add this information. The far right column of your current county index shows USGS as the submitter as data was extracted from USGS records. Others, such as you, submitting data will have their name and e-mail address in this column. Other researchers can then contact you if they have questions concerning your landmark entry. To get an idea of the type of data that can be added please View Hood County Landmarks at: http://www.hcnews.com/~landmark/hood.htm as an example. Index of All Texas Counties: http://www.hcnews.com/~landmark/ Your County Listing: :http://www.hcnews.com/~landmark/palopint.htm Landmark Submittal Form: http://hcnews.com/~landmark/howto.htm Global Search for landmark in all counties: http://hcnews.com/~landmark/search.htm (will be online shortly) Later we will add a page where researchers can post queries and answers regarding unknown locations of places/landmarks that researchers come across in historical documentation and oral traditions. Wayne Moyers, President Hood County Genealogical Society and member Hood County Historical Society is moderator for the TxGenWeb Landmark WebPages. <wmoyers@flash.net> Frank Saffarrans, TxGenWeb Hood County Coordinator is general coordinator for the TxGenWeb Landmark Project. <opa@hcnews.com> THE BOTTOM LINE: We need your help in identifying and providing descriptions of landmarks in your county. We believe that Landmarks and Vanished Communities can be a significant research tool that can be used by researchers nationwide. Please provide a link from your county TxGenWeb Page to: http://www.hcnews/~landmark/ and submit locations of Historical landmarks and places grandpa talked about. Please encourage other researchers in your county to do the same. Frank Saffarrans General Administrator Texas Landmark Project TexGenWeb opa ['opa] masculine noun, colloquial German: grandpa

    1. Make $50,000+ through the mail for FREE!
    2. Subject: GET LEGAL CASH IN MAIL W/ ONLY $5.00 READ THIS YOU WON'T BE SORRY, I WASN'T This will be the quickest way to get cash in the mail.If you follow these instructions carefully, you will be able to receive within two months nearly $50,000.00. The great part is is that $5.00 isn't really a whole lot and it could just be worth a try. I am currently 6 months pregnant and my husband and I are in debt. We both have really good professions but he has massive student loans and credit card bills (I was lucky and my father helped me through college). Needless to say, since we are married to one another I acquired his debt also. In any case, I followed these easy steps thinking that I really had nothing to lose and guess what? The first week I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I still figured it would end soon. The money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $20.00 to $30.00 dollars. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000.00!!!!!! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's still coming in ....... You send $1.00 to each of the 5 names and address stated in the article. You then place your own name and address in the bottom of the list at #5, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups. (There are thousands) and that is all. Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, Why it works....also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as you need it. The process is very simple and consists of 3 easy steps: Like most of us, I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal! Seriously, your story will sound like this one if you participate by doing the following: STEP 1: Get 5 separate pieces of paper and write your address on each piece of paper along with "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST." Now get 5 $1.00 bills and place ONE inside EACH of the 5 pieces of paper so th e bill will not be seen through the envelope to prevent thievery. Next, place one paper in each of the 5 envelopes and seal them. You should now have 5 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of paper stating the above phrase and a $1.00 bill. What you are doing is creating a service by this. THIS IS PERFECTLY LEGAL! Mail the 5 envelopes to the following addresses: #1 Corey McNear 233 Olive st. West Reading, PA 19611 #2 R. M. 66 Navesink Drive Monmouth Beach, NJ 07750 #3 Sam 27248 Grano Avenue Saugus, CA 91350 #4 Pat anderson 41 pilote st-ambroise Pq #5 Nick Austin 12318 Dollar Lk dr Fenton, MI 48430-9734 STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move the other names up (2 becomes 1, 3 becomes 2, etc...) and add YOUR Name as number 5 on the list. STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as close to original as possible. Now, post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups. (I think there is close to 18,000 groups) All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make! Don't know HOW to post in the newsgroups? Well do exactly the following: FOR NETSCAPE USERS: 1) Click on any newsgroup, like normal. Then click on "To News", which is in the top left corner of the newsgroup page. This will bring up a message box. 2) Fill in the SUBJECT with a flashy title, like the one I used, something to catch the eye!!! 3) Now go to the message part of the box and retype this letter exactly as it is here, with exception of your few changes. (remember to add your name to number 5 and move the rest up) 6 4) When your done typing in the WHOLE letter, click on 'FILE' above the send button. Then, 'SAVE AS..' DO NOT SEND YOUR ARTICLE UNTILL YOU SAVE IT. (so you don't have toype this 200 times :-) 5) Now that you have saved the letter, go ahead and send your first copy! (click the 'SEND' button in the top left corner) 6) This is where you post all 200! OK, go to ANY newsgroup article and click the 'TO NEWS' button again. Type in your flashy subject in the 'SUBJECT BOX', then go to the message and place your cursor here. Now click on 'ATTACHMENT' which is right below the 'SUBJECT BOX'. Click on attach file then find your letter wherever you saved it. Click once on your file then click 'OPEN' then click 'OK'. If you did this right , you should see your filename in the 'ATTACHMENT BOX' and it will be shaded. NOW POST AWAY! FOR INTERNET EXPLORER: It's just as easy, holding down the left mouse button, highlight this entire article, then press the 'CTRL' key and 'C' key at the same time to copy this article. Then print the article for your records to have the names of those you will be sending $1.00 to. Go to the newsgroups and press 'POST AN ARTICLE' type in your flashy subject and click the large window below. Press 'CTRL' and 'V' and the article will appear in the message window. **BE SURE TO MAKE YOUR ADDRESS CHANGES TO THE 5 NAMES.** Now re-highlight the article and re-copy it so you have the changes.... then all you have to do for each newsgroup is 'CTRL' and 'V' and press 'POST'. It's that easy!! THAT'S IT! All you have to do is jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup! **REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200** **If these instructions are too complex to follow, try Forte's "Free Agent." It is freeware for noncommercial use. To download it, simply use a search utility and type "Forte Free Agent". You should be able to find it.** That's it! You will begin receiving money from around the world within days! You may eventually want to rent a P.O. Box due to the large amount of mail you receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to use, as long as the postman will deliver it. **JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT.** Now the WHY part: This entire principle works because it is in a format of an upside down tree with thousands of branches. Everyone below you will see to it that the tree continues because they want to get money. Those below THEM will continue because THEY want to get the cash etc. Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low example). So then I made $5.00 with my name at #5 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200 postings, each with my name at #4 and only 5 persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another $25.00 for me, now those 25 each make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #3 and only 5 replies each, I will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125 persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #2 and only receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional $626.00! OK, now here is the fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM of 200 letters with my name at #1 and they each only receive 5 replies, that just made me $3,125.00!!! With a original investment of only $5.00! AMAZING! And as I said 5 responses is actually VERY LOW! Average is probable 20 to 30! So lets put those figures at just 15 responses per person. Here is what you will make: at #5 $15.00 at #4 $225.00 at #3 $3,375.00 at #2 $50,625.00 at #1 $759,375.00 When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another $5.00 to names on the list, putting your name at number 5 and start posting again. The thing to remember is that thousands of people all over the world are joining the Internet and reading these articles everyday, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! And this will go on and on and on and on.... get the picture? Well, there's 5,000,000,000 people on the world and most of them will eventually end up being hooked into the internet. So there are virtually unlimited resources. Of course this will work the best at the very beginning so the faster you post, the better for YOU! People have said, "what if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the Internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day, with thousands of those joining the actual Internet. Remember, play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will work. You just have to be honest. Make sure you print this article out RIGHT NOW, also. Try to keep a list of everyone that sends you money and always keep an eye on the newsgroups to make sure everyone is playing fairly. Remember, HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY. You don't need to cheat the basic idea to make the money!! GOOD LUCK to all and please play fairly and reap the huge rewards from this, which is tons of extra CASH. **By the way, if you try to deceive people by posting the messages with y name in the list and not sending the money to the rest of the people already onhe list, you will NOT get as much. Someone I talked to knew someone who did that and he only made about $150.00, and that's after seven or eight weeks! Then he sent the 5 $1.00 bills, people added him to their lists, and in 4-5 weeks he had over $10k. This ishe fairest and most honest way I have ever seen to share the wealth of the world without costing anything but our time!!! You also may want to buy mailing and e-mail lists for future dollars. Please remember to declare your extra income. Thanks once again...

    2. Susan Young
    3. About 1880 my G-grandfather Edward William Young moved from Harris Co TX to Palo Pinto where he was the Train Dispatcher for the new line built there. The family Bible gives his death as 1 July 1882. He was only 29/30 and left a wife, Elizabeth Jeffries Bowles (Bettie Jane YOUNG) and six children. Bettie Jane moved to or they had already lived in Mineral Wells and 8 years later married William Hitson and had a seventh child. I am looking for death information on Edward William. Was there an epidemic of some sort or maybe an accident that would have killed Edward that may be documented? Any cemetery books for Palo Pinto? Any help at all would be appreciated. 3. Hello Texas! I'm a new subscriber (from way up here in cold Ohio) with ancestors from Palo Pinto County. I'm hoping some of you may be able to assist my research (and I'd be happy to try to return the favor if SW Ohio's of any interest). My grandfather, Read N. WHITE, was born 16 August 1899 in Mingus, Tx., the son of Maxwell WHITE and Alice HALL. Read also had a brother, Doyle. Some time later (I'm not sure when) the family moved to Amarillo, and then El Paso. I'm looking for any information I can find about Maxwell WHITE, his brother, Herbert WHITE, his wife Alice HALL and their ancestors/descendents. Beyond their names, I don't know much at this point. I'd greatly appreciate your help.

    3. Looking for any descendant of Daniel Sylvester McNeil/McNeill. He was born in Nova Scotia in 1845 and died in Palo Pinto in 1929. After Daniel's first wife died leaving him with five small children he married Mary Jane Williams. Mrs. Williams had lost her husband and she had two children. Together Daniel and Mary Jane had three children. Daniel is buried in the Melcalf Gap Cemetery. Many Thanks, Kathy Medlin Texas City, Texas
