Melinda, Were any of your Johnsons from IL? My David B. WELLS had a daughter who married in the BREEDEN family. Her daughter married William Johnson in Coles/Douglas Co., IL. I don't know much about her Johnson family and wonder if they might have gone to TX where her Uncle David lived? Worth a shot I guess? I've been unsuccessful in locating him. He was my great-great-grandfather and was supposedly a blacksmith in Mineral Wells. His daughter, Fanny (or Fannie), was my great-grandmother. She married William Freeman Johnson. Since William was born about 1892 in Alabama and my grandfather was born in 1910, Fanny would have been born around the same time (1890-1894) most likely. They should have been in Palo Pinto County at the time of the census. It's always possible that Robert went by another first or middle name as well I suppose, so if you don't have him listed maybe you could mention what other Evanses might be (if there aren't too many). Thanks so much. Tami Johnson Renner TEJRen@aol.com --part0_919055117_boundary--
Concerning the offer to do a lookup in the 1900 Census I am researching Dr. Robert Lee SEAMSTER and wife Virginia TERRY SEAMSTER. My mother tells me that my grandmother's parents lived in Palo Pinto County in the town of Mineral Wells. I have not had any success so far finding them and if you do not mind checking the 1900 census I would very much appreciate the assistance. My mom has an old picture of the house with the Shingle "Dr. Lee Seamster" written on it. He was born in 1853 in Barry County Missouri and died Dec. 12, 1940. His wife was Virginia TERRY, born 3/15/1871, died 4/10/1922. Dear Melinda, Thank you for your kind offer. I am looking for any reference to William Hittson, Stephen or S N Young. Stephen was the youngest son of Bettie Jane Bowles Young. Betty Jane married William Hittson after Edward William Young, Stephen's father died in 1882. I don't know when they married but they a child, Adela Hittson. I am also looking for death information on Edward William Young who has a death date of 1 July 1882, recorded in the family Bible. He was a dispatcher for the new railroad spur in Mineral Wells. He died at the age of 31, Does anyone know of any epidemics or other events that could have caused such an early death. Any help would be appreciated. Thought I would try this post one more time! Since this is an extremely long post, if you have an interest in any of the following surnames, primarily BUTLER, KING, GRIFFIN, ROGERS, DILL and DALTON, please read. BUTLER/KING/GRIFFIN/ROGERS/BILLINGSLEY/RAPER/BLEEKER/MUSE/DILL/DALTON Have been desperately seeking ancestral information on my gg grandfather Felix "F.G" BUTLER. If anyone has heard of this or similar name, I would love to hear from you. His youngest son, Alexander BUTLER is interred at Hedley, Donley Co., TX and one of his daughters resided in Plainview, Hale Co., TX. Other details follow. My gg grandfather, Felix "FG" BUTLER was born 22 FEB 1837 in AR, and died 15 Apr 1905 in Vernon, Wilbarger Co., TX. according to family bible records. My family still resides in Jackson Co., OK (Old Greer Co., TX), so I frequent the Vernon, Wilbarger Co., TX cemetery. Unfortunately, if he is indeed interred there, the grave is unmarked. And, the City of Vernon has been extremely helpful in looking through their records, unfortunately, I still can't find any information. Felix G. BUTLER married my gg grandmother Malissia Elsa Lucilla Ann DILL 3 SEP 1872 in Jack Co., TX according to marriage records. Malissia DILL was born 13 NOV 1854 in AL, and died 11 Nov. 1926, Vernon, Wilbarger Co., TX. Her father, William B. DILL was born in TN, her mother, Eliza AMITTOU/ANNITTOU in AL. Malissia Elsa Lucilla Ann DILL had previously been married to John DALTON who died in 1871 Tarrant Co., TX, son of Thomas DALTON who died 01 JAN 1873, Tarrant Co., TX. The Jack Co., TX probate records indicate F.G. BUTLER was awarded guardianship of DALTON, John, Minor, 18 mo. of age, 7 AUG 1873. This was the son of Malissia (DILL) DALTON and John DALTON, deceased. However, the Jack Co., TX probate records also award Wm. B. DILL (grandfather of John M. DALTON) guardianship of John M. DALTON in 1889. My great grandmother was Malissia Josephine (BUTLER) MUSE, born 1876, Parker Co., TX, attended school in Whitt, Parker Co., TX, married James Claudius MUSE b. 1876 MS, in Arlington, Tarrant Co., TX 1892, passed away in Jackson Co., OK (Old Greer Co., TX) in 1968. In 1877, F.G. BUTLER homesteaded 160 acres in Parker Co., TX. The land record description includes the following surnames: Charlotte BLACKWELL, Thomas SULLIVAN, Wm. A. DURNALL, Charles ATKINSON, F.M. MADDOX, W.B. PRICE. Although I can not seem to locate Felix BUTLER in either TX or AR prior to 1870, I've located Felix G. BUTLER in Parker Co., TX 1880 & Tarrant Co., TX 1900 census records. Census information varies for him. There is a contradiction about the birth place of his parents. 1880 census indicates the FBP as VA, 1900 indicates FBP as MO. Children by Felix G. My mother tells me that my grandmother's parents lived in Palo Pinto County in the town of Mineral Wells. The time period would have been late 1800's to the mid 1900's. I have not had any success so far finding them and any help would be greatly appreciated. The problem is finding where they are buried, as well as any other information I can find. My mom has an old picture of the house with the Shingle "Dr. Lee Seamster" written on it. He was born in 1853 in Barry County Missouri and died Dec. 12, 1940. Hi Everyone! Last week I got into a conversation on the Virginia Roots list about the circuit-riding preacher, Lorenzo Dow. Lots of us have a Lorenzo Dow 'Somebody' in our data. Since I have a lot of information about the 'original' Lorenzo Dow, they asked if I would post a web page about him. He was born in 1777 in Coventry, CT. Well, I ran home from work and put up the Lorenzo Dow page after supper! I hope you find it interesting. He was something! I can just see him jumping out of a church window onto a horse and riding away shouting that he would be back one year from the day! He did, too! The site is: http://www.acun.com/dentons The link to the article about Lorenzo Dow is about half way down the first page. I hope you enjoy the stories! Blessings! Sue Montgomery-Cook
Pat, The only WHITE's I know of are the William H. WHITE family who settled in the community of Hess, Jackson Co., OK (Old Greer Co., TX) in 1890. He married an Elizabeth COLBATH in 1881. Their oldest children were born in Stonewall, Gillespie Co., TX. I've found many of the Palo Pinto and Jack Co., TX folks migrated that direction. Hope this helps.
