    3. Hi folks, Just got word tonight that I am the new web admin for the Palo Pinto Co., TXGenWeb. I haven't started work on the web site's new structure yet. Thought I'd take a poll to see if there are any suggestions, and advice before I start. I don't live in Palo Pinto Co. I live in Johnson Co. That's close enough to do a little research, but not much. I'll try to get photos next spring of some of the places in the county for the web site. I know the court house will be one place, do any of you have a particular favorite, or think one spot would be of general interest? Are there any researchers on the mail list who live in Palo Pinto Co. who would be willing to do a little volunteer work that can be placed on the web site? Sure could use some help here. What is the address of the Mineral Wells Chamber of Commerce? What does the court house charge for copying vital statistics? Does anyone know? Are there any names with email addresses of people who live in Palo Pinto that I might ask questions of? Now is the time to speak up. I will begin building the basic structure soon, and if I know what you want I will be able to build a better site. Look forward to hearing from you, donna brand web admin Palo Pinto Co., TXGenWeb

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Chick Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CmB.2ACI/835.1 Message Board Post: Hi there, I am a great, great, great grandson of James Henry Chick (1833-1909) and have a Family Archive CD that tells me a Robert Greenwell Chick (1858-1937) married a Mary Jane Kimbrough (1866-1933). It makes sense to me that their first boy may have been named Robert based on the apparent habit of the family keeping names going. Robert Greenwell Chick was the first son of James Henry Chick of Palo Pinto (1833-1909) and Darcus Jane Greenwell (1835-1918). My grandfather (Clarence Eddy Chick) tells great stories and the Kimbrough name has been mentioned many times so I would think these were the same clan. If anyone has anything about the parents of Robert Powell Chick and/or Carrie Belle Rodgers I would appreciate it. I believe them to be the parents of James Henry Chick (1833-1909) of Palo Pinto, TX. Thanks, Stacy Chick Monroe, WA

Surnames: Perkins, Moore, Shirley, Adams Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CmB.2ACI/837 Message Board Post: My great grandfather, Z. H. A. Perkins, was killed while working in a field by a Wm. Dow who the obituary said shot my ggrandfather "without any provocation whatsoever". This obituary ordered by the "Rock Tank Alliance" is all we know about this great grandfather. I tried to find the Salesville cemetery in November, 2001, but I could not locate it. I do not know for sure that my ggrandfather is buried there, but I would like to look. My Perkins' side seems to have been invisible, but I visited the area as a child and I know they lived in Graford and that area. My grandmother was Ella Viola Adams Perkins whose husband, John William Perkins, died in 1918. He was the son of Z. H. A. Perkins. He and Ella are buried at Megargel. Another relative who I think lived in Salesville was named Spain Moore. I have not found any reference to him either. He was (I think) the brother of my other grandmother, Susie Moore Shirley. She is buried at Perrin. If anyone has any information on these people, I would appreciate hearing from you.

    1. Re: Railway in Mineral Wells-1880
    2. My great grandfather Edward William Young moved from Giddings Tx to Palo Pinto to work for the T&P Railroad. He was a dispatcher. He died in Palo Pinto in July of 1882. My big question is why? He was only 31 years old. Are there records of epidemics of typhoid or other diseases from that time period. He left a wife and six children the youngest being my grandfather. His widow Bettie Jane Bowles Young married William Hittson in 1890 in Sweetwater, Nolan Co., . They were living in Palo Pinto on the 1900 census with a 10 year old daughter Adela. Anyone knowing cause of death and possible buriel place for Edward WiIliam will become my lifelong friend. I have been looking for Edward William Young death information for years. My ancestor is John Monroe Wilson b. 1849 probably in AR to William R. Wilson and mother unknown to us! I also have no information on siblings of my J M Wilson. He married Lucinda Emma "Lucy" Abbott - 1/2 Cherokee. Their children are Leslie Ervin Wilson b. 1878 in Duffau, Erath Co., TX; William Ray Wilson b. 1882 in Zephyr, Brown Co., TX; Estelle Marge Wilson b. 1884 Zephyr, Brown Co, TX; Talmage Dewitt Wilson b. 1887 Zephyr, Brown Co., TX; John Wesley Wilson b. 1890 Zephyr, Brown Co., TX. John and Lucy Wilson left Brown Co., TX for Palo Pinto Co., TX around 1890. While JM had been the 1st Post Master and 1st Merchant and 1st Worshipful Master of the Masonic Temple in Zephyr, for some unknown to us reason...he was working in the Thurber Coal Mine in 1894 when there was a collapse, killing him. His family remained in the Mineral Wells/Grant/Mingus area of Texas where Lucy died in 1921. Please email me with the info in the letter you have...the siblings of your William...anything else? Perhaps I've at least come across your Wilsons in my research? Looking forward to hearing from you. pwilson411@aol.com Peggy Sue http://members.aol.com/pwilson411/indexe.html
