My greatgrandmother was Elsie McClain,her father was Ephriam,mother Jane Banks, his father was Alexander McClain,mother Rachel Berwick. I think I know your line. The McClain are related but the female line is different. I believe I had a cousin researcing the same line as you. Let me know if you want more info. Note: One census taker had the McClain surname listed as MacLain but they are the same line, at least it's what my cousin told me. I would be happy to look back in my notes if you are interested.
