BROWN, NEWTON, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably” in Company “D”, 11th “Spaight’s Battalion”, “Texas Volunteers”, “Infantry”, C.S.A. (note: Company “D” was fromed in Tyler County, Texas. Company “D” later becamne Company “H”.) BROWN, SAMUEL M. “SURGEON”, (Plot 2; Evergreen Cemetery), Born: Deceased: 1887. South Carolina native Samuel M. Brown served with distinction as a Surgeon in the Confederate Army during the “War of Northern Aggression”. He and His Family settled in East Texas 1866, and in 1871 moved to Orange, Texas. He was a respected local physician often treating County jail prisoners and paupers. A leading citizen of the town, he was tragically killed in a locomotive accident on March 29, 1887. A local newspaper reported that He was aiding a child when He was struck by the train, and His death was a great shock to the citizens of Orange. (Texas Historical Marker at His Grave. Recorded: 1987). (note: Company “E” was formed at Jefferson County, Texas. Company “E” later became Company “B”.) BROWN, THOMAS F. M., Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably” in Company "E”, 11th "Spaight’s Battalion”, “Texas Volunteers”, “Dismounted Cavalry” “Infantry”, C.S.A. (note: Company “E” was formed at Jefferson County, Texas. Company “E” later became Company “B”.) YOUNG, CHESLEY M., Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served ‘Honorably” in Company “C”, 11th “Spaight’s Battalion”, “Texas Volunteers”, “Infantry”, C.S.A. (note Company “C” was formed in Newton County, Texas.) YOUNG, FRANCIS, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably”. Received a Confederate pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 11594. YOUNG, J. B., “2nd LIEUTENANT”, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably” in Company “B”, 13th Texas “Cavalry”, C.S.A. YOUNG, J. L., “CORPORAL”, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably” in Company “B”, 11th “Spaight’s Battalion”, ‘Artillery”, “Texas Volunteers”, C.S.A. (note: Company “B”, spent most of the War stationed at Sabine Pass, Texas.) (Company “B” was formed in Jefferson County (Sabine Pass), Texas.) YOUNG, JOHNATHAN W., “CORPORAL”, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably” in Company “B”, 11th “Spaight’s Battalion”, “Artillery”, “Texas Volunteers”, C.S.A. (note: Company “B”, spent most of the War stationed at Sabine Pass, Texas.) (Later on Company “E” was merged into Company “B”; then Company “B” was assigned to Company “I”, 13th “Bates”, “Texas Volunteers”, Infantry.) (Company “B” was formed in Jefferson County (Sabine Pass), Texas.) YOUNG, JOSEPH, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably” in Company “I”, 13th Texas “Cavalry”, “Flowernaughts”, C.S.A., later “Dismounted Cavalry”. (note: Company “I” was formed in Orange County, Texas.) YOUNG, SAMUEL S., Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably” in Company “C”, 11th “Spaight’s Battalion”, “Texas Volunteers”, “Infantry”, C.S.A. (note: Company “C” was formed in Newton County, Texas.) YOUNG, THOMAS, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America, on the 20th day of December, 1863, and served “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “F”, Dailey’s Regiment of “Cavalry”, C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Orange County, Texas. He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service on the 25th day of May, 1865, by Colonel Dailey at Hempstead, Texas. At which time he held the rank of “Private”. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor” application…his writing). Received a Confederate pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 03215.
