CARTER, ADNEY, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably” in Company “G”, 21st Texas “Cavalry”, “First Texas Lancers”, C.S.A. (note: Company “G” was formed in Orange County, Texas.) CARTER, ALFRED, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably” in Company “E”, 11th “Spaight’s Battalion”, “Texas Volunteers”, “Dismounted Cavalry” “Infantry”, C.S.A. (note: Company “E” was formed at Jefferson County, Texas.) CARTER, G. W., “CAPTAIN”, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America in the Spring of 1862, and served “Honorably” as “Commanding Officer” of the 21st Texas “Cavalry”, “First Texas Lancers”, C.S.A. This was the third and final Company to form in Orange County, Texas. CARTER, JOHN S., Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably” in Company “A” “Cavalry” & “C” “Infantry”, 11th “Spaight’s Battalion”, “Texas Volunteers”, C.S.A. (note: Company “A” was formed in Jefferson County (Sabine Pass), Texas. Company “C” was formed in Newton County, Texas.) CARTER, JOSEPH, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably” in Company “E”, 11th “Spaight’s Battalion”, “Texas Volunteers”, ‘Dismounted Cavalry” “Infantry”, C.S.A. (note: Company “E” was formed at Jefferson County, Texas.) CARTER, WILLIAM THOMAS, (Buried: Denton Valley Cemetery, Denton Valley, Texas), Born: 07th day of July, 1842, at Dalton, Georgia. Deceased: 03rd day of October, 1932, at Clyde, Texas. Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America in April, 1861, and served “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “B”, “Phillip Legion” Georgia Volunteers, “Infantry”, C.S.A. William Thomas Carter received “Hazardous Duty Pay”, while serving as “Signalman” in “Phillips Legion”, “Signal Corps”, Georgia Volunteers. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Dalton, Georgia. He was released from said Confederate service at the “End of the War”, after fighting in Virginia, Georgia and Tennessee without even receiving a “scratch” during the four years of the War. Received a “Confederate Pension” from the State of Texas. Pension # 25929) (Note: W. T. Carter moved to Brown County, Texas in 1914.) Lane”, Camp 1745, “Sons of Confederate Veterans”, Orange, Texas. RUSSELL, ROBERT B., “POSTMASTER”,(Plot 2, Evergreen Cemetery), Born: 01st day of April, 1817. Deceased: 25th day of November, 1880, Commissioned “Postmaster of Orange”, C.S.A. On May 30, 1861. RUSSELL, ROBERT E., “MAIL CARRIER”, (Plot 2; Evergreen Cemetery), Born: 10th day of October, 1847. Deceased: 24th day of May, 1922. Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America, and served “Honorably” as a “Mail Carrier” from Fort Niblett (Camp Pleasant) to Orange, Texas. “Confederate Civil Service”. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Orange County, Texas. He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service in June, 1865. At which time he held the rank of “Mail carrier”. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor” application…his writing). RUSSELL, HENRY MAYES, (Plot 2; Evergreen Cemetery), Born: May 24, 1845. Deceased: May 03, 1912. Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America, in May, 1863, and served “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “B”, 4th Regiment “Texas Cavalry”, C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Orange County, Texas, He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service on the 22nd day of May, 1865, By “Disbanding” at Mosley’s Ferry, Texas. At which time he held the rank of “Private”. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor” application…his writing). Received a Confederate pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 43303.
