STARK, DANIEL L., Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America, and served Honorably in Company C, 11th Spaights Battalion, Texas Volunteers, Infantry, C.S.A. (note: Company C was formed in Newton County, Texas.) STARK, JOHN THOMAS, CAPTAIN, (Plot 5; Evergreen Cemetery, Orange, Texas), Born: 1821. Deceased: September 21, 1893. Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America, and served Honorably in 13th Texas Cavalry, Company H, Dreadnaughts, C.S.A. Later Dismounted, trained Infantry. Patriarch of the Orange County Stark Family. John T. Stark was born in Pebble County, Ohio in 1821, and moved to East Texas in 1840. He settled in Newton County, Texas in the 1850s where He practiced law and ran a merchantile store. In 1861, John T, Stark joined the Confederate Army as a Private in the Texas Cavalry, and was later elected Captain. In 1874 He moved to Orange, Texas where He practiced law, served one year as Orange County Judge, and was active in the Old Orange First Baptist Church. John T. Starks three marriages produced eighteen children. He died in 1893. (Obtained from Texas Historical Marker at His Grave Recorded: 1982). (note: Company H was formed in Newton County, Texas.)
