J., Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served Honorably in Company I, 13th Texas Cavalry, Flowernaughts, C.S.A., later Dismounted. FAIRCHILD, SAMUEL A., CAPTAIN COMMANDING OFFICER, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America on April 29, 1861 and served Honorably, as Captain of the Orange Greys. 2nd Brigade Texas Troops Cavalry, C.S.A., later Dismounted. This was the first Confederate Company of three formed in Orange County, Texas. Captain Fairchild merged several other Companies in fall of 1861 to form Company I, 13th Texas Cavalry, later Dismounted. He also Commanded this newly formed Company as Captain. This was the second Company to form in Orange County, Texas. Served as County Judge in Orange County, Texas, from: April 1858 to July, 1858. Samuel served as Sergeant before Captain.
