RATCLIFF, JOHN VAN, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America, in October, 1861, and served Honorably as a Private in Company A, Spaights Battalion, Cavalry, C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Orange County, Texas. He was Honorably discharged from said Confederate service on the 5th day of May, 1865, by Commander Leon Smith. (Obtained from Southern Cross of Honor application his writing). Received a Confederate pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 21176/46314 (Two). (note: Company A was formed in Jefferson County (Sabine Pass), Texas.) RATCLIFF, LEROY, Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served Honorably.
