He was at His time on enlistment a resident of Orange County, Texas. He was “Honorably” discharged from said service in 1865, by General Walker, at which time he held the rank of “Orderly Sergeant”. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor” application…His writing). Received a Confederate Pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 36185. (note: Company “G” was formed in Orange County, Texas.) (?)BURTON, JOHN BLYTHE, (?)Plot 5; Evergreen Cemetery), Deceased: 25th day of February, 1912. BURTON, JOHN G., “CAPTAIN” “2ND COMMANDER”, (Plot 5, Evergreen Cemetery), Born: unknown. Died: 05th Day of February, 1912. Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America in August, 1861, and served “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “H”, 16th Regiment of Louisiana, “St. Helena Rebels”, C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of St. Helena Parish, Louisiana. He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service in April, 1865, by surrender of the Confederate Army and cessation of hostilities at Appromatox, in April, 1865. At which time He held the rank of “Captain” and “2nd Commander”, C.S.A. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor” application…his writing). Received a Confederate Pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 03201. Served as County Judge in Orange County, Texas from: January, 1885 to December, 1896. BURTON, NATHANIEL, (Buried in Evergreen Cemetery) (UNMARKED GRAVE), Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably”. Died at his home in Beaumont, Texas at 11 P. M. on the 15th Day of March, 1914. Member of “Iris Lodge” No. 286. I. O. O. F. Grave is not marked in Evergreen Cemetery. Funeral held on the 16th Day of March, 1914, Funeral traveled from Southern Pacific passenger station in Beaumont to Orange, where he is buried. (Need to find records). (note: may have served in Company “K”, 19th Regiment, “Infantry” “Mississippi Volunteers”, C.S.A.). BURTON, OWEN W. SR., “CORPORAL”, (Burial Unknown), Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America in February, 1862, and served “Honorably” as a “Private” in Company “I”, 13th Texas “Dismounted Cavalry”, “Flowernaughts”, C.S.A. He was at his time of enlistment a resident of Orange County, Texas. He was “Honorably” discharged from said Confederate service in May, 1865, by Captain S. H. Fairchild of the 13th Texas “Infantry”. At which time he held the rank of “Corporal”. (Obtained from “Southern Cross of Honor” application…his writing). Received a Confederate pension from the State of Texas. Pension # 35636. (note: Company “I” was formed in Orange County, Texas.) BURTON, T., Enlisted in the service of the Confederate States of America and served “Honorably” in Company “I”, 13th Texas “Cavalry”, “Flowernaughts”, C.S.A., later “Dismounted”. (note: Company “I” was formed in Orange County, Texas.)
