    3. Posted on: Orange Co. Tx Query Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Orange?read=226 Surname: PARKERS ------------------------- All I can tell you is A.J. Parker and Thomas J. Parker (they more than likely WERE Brothers, Father, Sons or Cousins) both served in the same Regiment (13th) and Company ("I")...Company "I", "Cavalry" was formed in the spring of 1861 at Orange County, Texas. Soon after 13th Texas Cavalry was moved to Arkansas...retrained "Infantry"...their horses were taken away for "Artillery". Now...the W.R. Parker I listed served in 11th Spaight's Battalion, "Infantry", Company "D"...formed in Tyler County, Texas...Spaight's Battalion spent almost three years in and around Orange. The last year or so of the war, Spaight's Battalion fought in Virginia. The Confederate States of America was very understanding about letting a Southern Soldier stay near home. W.R. Parker could have been the Father of A.J. & Thomas J. (just guessing)...A.J. & Thomas J. could have transfered to Spaight's Battalion when the 13th went to Arkansas, to stay near home. Anything is possible, over 625,000 Americans BOTH North and South fought in that war (over half that number left this world from disease...NOT bullets). "Texas Confederate Pensions" and the fact Texas was NOT torn up by the War is the reason MANY families moved to Texas in the early 1900's. Sorry I could not help you more... I have been compiling Southern Soldiers names in and around Orange for over four years, I have over 1300 names thus far...never will have them ALL. GOD Bless and keep you and yours.

Two of the Philmon women in North Carolina married Parkers. One was Margaret Philmon who married Zebulon Parker, and Mary Philmon who married William Parker. Can I gather from the Parker men that you have mentioned that they may have had a Philmon mother? Both of these women had sons of an age that could have served in the Civil War. One of Mary's son, William Parker married a Deese. Please let me know. Barb-

That's what I thought it was. I met her one time, and she worked at the Weiners there in Orange. What happened to her after that, I don't know. I was pretty sure that it was Shreaze, but then again, that was quite some time ago. Might have been Schreaze, or Shreaz or any variety of that. Those are the only 2 things that I know for sure. Alberta was her first name, and she worked at the Weiners in Orange.

    3. I have noticed over the last several months this board is getting more and more active. We are getting more people asking questions and look-ups. There has been a wide range of things being put on here from obits, civil war records, cemeteries being looked up and so forth. I would like to tell all the volunteers who spend their time doing look-ups and typing all those things on here, thank you for your time. I know from personal experince how much time and gas is spent chasing down all this information and typing it. It means a lot to all of us to be able to help one person get thru that brick wall or help them find a dear ancestor they have been looking for. Yes, for all this a simple thank you means an awful lot to the volunteers. So, my hat is off to all the people who devote their time to helping others on here and a big Thank You also. Keep up the get work and lets keep the board alive and going strong. Danny Glenn ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET!
