Is anyone researching Jeremiah V. KEEL, born c1817 KY; died December 23, 1883 at Birdston, Navarro County, Texas. He was married November 15, 1843, San Augustine, Texas, to Miss Elizabeth BURLESON, d/o Joseph and Mary Polly [Warren] Burleson. Children of this union: i. Robert B. Keel ii Joseph Keel, born c1845 iii. Mary Elizabeth "Molly" Keel, 1847-1936 iv James C. Keel, c1848 v Lorena Keel, March 1850 vi Juliet "Julia" Keel, 1854; 1917 vii John Vardeman Keel 1855-1927 Elizabeth [Burleson] Keel died in September, 1857 and J. V. Keel is said to have married about six? more times. All wives, except the last, evidently predeceased him. This writer has not found the names of these other wives. OTHER CHILDREN OF J.V. KEEL: J.V. Keel had at least three other children by wives other than Elizabeth Burleson. 1. Sallie A. Keel was probably daughter of 2nd wife. Named in her father's will as Sallie A. Slade. 2. Annie Keel was daughter of yet another mother and was named in her father's will as "minor under the age of fourteen". 3. Allie Keel may have had same mother as Annie. Also named in J.V. Keel's will as "minor under the age of fourteen". J.V. Keel may have had more children, but we don't think so as no others are named as his heirs. RELIGION/FRATERNAL ORGANIZATIONS: Mason. Baptist.
