John Robert "JR" SEYBOLD (1832 ILL - ca 1890 I.T.) and his wife, Amanda J. WELCH SEYBOLD came to Chatfield, TX in early 1883. My grandmother, Elizabeth "Lizzie" SEYBOLD CLOUD was born there in October, 1883 (I think she was born in Corsicana). In January, 1889, J.R. sold some land to a Mr. Christian MOSCHEL, recorded in the Navarro county courthouse. The family was living in Rice, TX at that time. J.R. SEYBOLD had been a merchant in Illinois but bought a farm when he arrived in Chatfield. When he left Navarro Cty, in early 1890, he apparently owned a store, which Christian MOSCHEL apparently bought from him. J.R. took his family to Ardmore, I.T., opened a store there and apparently died there that year. His wife died a few years later and the children were orphaned. Hence, we have little of the family history. Does anyone know anything of J.R. SEYBOLD's or Christian MOSCHEL's store in the 1890 time frame ? Also, can anyone make a suggestion where to look, other than the courthouse, for records of my grandmother's birth ?
