    3. Hello, My ancestor is William Doolen b. 1820 IL. He arrived in Navarro Co TX as of 1853. I need some help! He died in Texarkana, TX. in 1865. I need to find his death record, to find his Father's name. His wife and children all lived in Navarro Co TX, and are all show there, in 4 households in the 1880 census. As far as I know, they did NOT live in Texarkana, he only died there, from what cause, I don't know. Are there any resources in Navarro Co, perhaps History books, which might say WHO the father of William Doolen is??? I believe he is the son of Rev. Jesse Doolen of Marion Co IL, but some have disputed that, and unless I find a death record, or a history book which might refer to his father, I am stuck. Concerning Texarkana, TX: I will write to the library and see if they have old death records which go back to 1865. If anyone has suggestions or further information please write back to me. William Doolen is mentioned in the History book for Navarro Co TX, as one of the early settlers. I have a list of all his kids, and some grandkids. Best regards, Lillian Kathleen Martin

    3. Lilly, I looked in the "Navarro County History" Vol. #1 that I have and found only one mention of the "Doolen Family" being in the County, in the article about John R. Ransome, who arrived in 1862 and was the "Tax Collector in 1885", now I don't know if they both arrived at that time or if the "Doolen's" were there in 1885. The other names mentioned were; Hammonds, Cunninghams, Whites, Pughs, Storys, Garners, Swearingens, Lynns, John Samuel Young, Megaritys, Dicksons, Carpenters, Greys, Loves, Hendons and Littles.
