Hi-- I need information concerning the Rice Cemetery in Rice TX. For years there has been a dinner held first Sunday of June and people donated money for the upkeep on the cemetery... My mother, father and brother among other relatives are buried there. On October 10th my other brother's wife was buried....this was on Thursday...her grave was covered with roses and sprays and ribbons...on Saturday morning, the 12th of October, my brother had gone out there and the flowers were there but when he went back there was not one single flower/ribbon left on her grave!!! You could see where someone had dragged the flowers off and see the tire prints of a vehicle...He and his children reported it as a theft...which it was!!!!! To there amazement the police called and told them , that the RICE CEMETERY 'CARETAKER' took all flowers off the graves every SATURDAY MORNING.........if this is true when did it start? and why wasn't other graves cleaned off?????? If anyone on here can give me an answer I would appreciate it greatly. It is sad that we have to lose a loved one, but for their grave to be desecrated in such a manor is unbelievable...I can understand if the flowers had been there a while and wilted/died that they should be removed but these were fresh roses, about a $1000.00 worth....
