Try posting to the PATE-L list. The list is incredibly helpful and has a tremendous amount of knowledge about PATE families in the US. My husband is descended from J T and Mary (Fitzgerald) PATE who were in Navarro County in 1870 I believe. I am trying to determine whether they died there also. Their son was adopted by the Robert Harris family by 1880 according to the 1880 Grayson County, TX census.
