Hi all, I wrote in Oct 2002 about someone stealing the flowers off my sister-in-laws grave...a few weeks later when we went to RICE CEMETERY, RICE, TX...we noticed a large section of fence torn down...didn't give it a thought, as we thought the cemetery association may be moving it....NOT... It was vandals...it has been reported to the president of the Cemetery Association and he said he would contact the fence company to have it put back up.... It wasn't ran in to....it looks like someone tied a rope/(or whatever) on a vehicle and pulled it down...I want to say from memory (not a good one) that about 4-5 sections were torn down. While listening to the Navarro police scanner on 1/10/3...it was reported that a truck was stopped and it had granite pieces in the truck, some of the pieces had crosses on them. The officer reporting it did so in case some of the cemeteries in Navarro county came up missing headstones...The person's story was that he 'bought' them or maybe hauling them for someone else.......so if you haven't been to your family cemetery in a while it might not be a bad ideal to go and check on things and report any unusual activity...we didn't report the fence because we thought the cemetery association was moving it...live and learn.
