Melody, I have noticed in the research that I am involved in and in my communications with others, that it is far better and leads to fewer misunderstandings, if I make effort to state my intentions upfront. Since you are well aware of the grave dangers in Israel and the terrorist threats around the world, and that you were sending an e-mail into a country which, due to direct attack, is at war with terrorism, you should have included an explanation of your need for such information. The one you provided below would have added a sense of security to your need and/or desire to know the information. Remember, you sent an e-mail into a country in which terrorists were trained to fly planes. This training was given in innocence and trust. Then, the training was used to fly planes into the World Trade Center were thousands of innocent people were killed. Others would have been killed had it not been for the quick thinking and herorism of the citizens aboard the other aircraft. In innocence, we should not give out information that might further jeapordize our security anymore than someone in Israel would do. It appears to me that, instead of "attacking" the person who replied to your request, you would apologize, in the interest of misunderstandings, and state your purpose for need of the information. I am sorry that you live in a world of insecurity, uncertainty and death. We did not create this situation. We are a kind, generous, slow to anger people. Our people have sacrificed throughout the years to bring peace and stability in the world. Look at the thousands of white crosses in cemeteries around the world where our love ones are buried. Your marital situation is of no concern to me, nor is your place of residence, except in light of the fact that you chose it. Had I responded to your first e-mail in regards to the information you requested and the way in which you worded your request, I would have simply asked, "Why do you want to know?" That's a freedom we enjoy in America. ..questioning. I would like to think that researchers around the world will extend the courtesy of making explanation for their need of research in any country. Especially, for research that involves sharing information that might relate to sensitive areas. By the way, my grandson is serving in Iraq today! Have a WONDERFUL day! And, MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Date: Fri, 28 May 2004 08:10:02 -0700 (PDT) Dear Janice, My name is Melody Amsel. I am an American living in Israel. I just received a hurtful letter from Mrs. Janice J. Hancock, who is also subscribed to this list. In it, she writes Why do you want to know? And what time frame are you talking about? We are under terrorist warning concerning trains and buses...so make yourself clear, please.I will say Corsicana no longer has a train depot. Janice American and Proud of IT!!!!!! I am writing a book about my cousins, Jake, Celia, and Pauline AMSEL, who lived in Durant, Oklahoma but are buried in YOUR Corsicana Hebrew Cemetery. Test me: go to the Corsicana Hebrew Cemetery and you find their graves. It is in connection with my book that I asked for a list of train depots. My cousin Pauline Amsel, murdered in Durant, OK, was buried in Corsicana,TX in 1914. I wanted to know if and how her body was transferred to the Hebrew Cemetery there. No ulterior motives! I may live in the Middle East, I may live in Israel, but that does not make me a terrorist. I resent the insinuation that my request has anything to do with your current situation in the US. And now, a few words about Israeli and terror. Ask US, we know, we have been living in the shadow of terrorist attacks of every possible size, shape and form, including bombs in loaves of bread, bombs in packages, and bombs in people. More than one thousand Israeli have died in the recent troubles--and the country is so small that we either knew them personally or knew someone who knew them. So don't talk to me about terror. I am proud of my American heritage. I am proud of my Jewish/Israeli heritage. I am proud that my AMSEL family were pioneers of the American Southwest. Presently, my own children are serving in the Israeli army--battling terrorism wherever it occurs. Now again I ask: can anyone point me to a list of the train depots between Corsicana,TX and Durant, OK? Thank very much and may God watch over you all, Melody in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel WRITING Between Galicia and Hungary: The Jews of Stropkov http://www.avotaynu.com/books/stropkov.htm RESEARCHING Slovakia: Amsel, Schonfeld, Baum, Landau,Einhorn,Ritter Bessarabia: Zazulia, Morgenstern,Cushilevitz,Pollak Galicia: Einstein --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
