I have made this report on the Posey name in Navarro Co TX. As of the 1880 census, at Navarro Co., TX, there is only one Posey family living there. Adrian Posey, b. 1830 GA Elinor Posey , b. 1834 TN Nettie Posey, b. 1862 TX Lula Posey , b. 1871 TX The above Nettie Posey married W. M. Seale on Dec 23, 1883 in Navarro Co TX. There came another Posey family to Navarro Co TX, who may be related, or not. Perhaps, the 2 heads of households were brothers? 1880 census, at Indian Creek, Bullock Co., Alabama: William Posey b. 1820 SC both parents born SC Sarah Posey b. 1822 SC Jacob Posey b. 1857 AL Josephine Posey b. 1860 AL James Posey b. 1861 AL George Posey b. 1867 AL James Petty b. 1868 AL, he is "other" and works of the farm (Question: Is this Petty related to the Petty family who came to Navarro Co TX?) I believe that the above Josephine Posey is the one who married L.L. Gramlin on Oct 22, 1884 at Navarro Co TX. I believe that the above James Posey married G.A. Dixon on Jan 24, 1884 at Navarro Co TX I believe that the above Geroge Posey, was known as "Lonnie" and he married Margaret Frances Martin "Fannie" on April 13, 1887 in Navarro Co TX. (the court record shows G.J. Posey as the name) I believe the above William Posey is buried at Long Prairie Cemetery, Navarro Co ,TX (Vol 5 Cem. Book) William Posey b. Jan 11, 1821 d. July 5, 1890. Buried near by is Jimme Dixson Posey, the infant daughter of J.M. Posey and B.A. Dixon (marriage record say G. A. ?) G. J. Posey, aka "Lonnie", and Fannie Martin , d/o James Nathaniel Martin of Corsicana, TX, had 2 kids before he died very young. 1. Euna Posey, married Edward Miller Carl 2. William Posey b. 1890 At the Frost Cemetery, Navarro Co TX, is buried William F. Posey b. 3-20-1880 d. 9-20-1942, he is the son of Lonnie Posey. His wife is Ora D. Posey b. 7-27-1884 d. 4-14-1965, thier son is Robert Hollis Posey b. 10-2-1901 d. 7-4-1911 I am going to GUESS that George Posey, aka Lonnie, was probably buried prior to 1900 in the Long Prairie cemetery, Navarro Co TX, but perhaps did not have a head stone, or had one but it has been sunk, or destroyed, etc. Perhaps a very through inspection of the cemetery, might locate his grave. I base that guess on the fact that William Posey is buried there, and I believe he is the father of Lonnie. James W. Martin, s/o James Nathaniel Martin of Corsicana, married Eugenia Posey. I am "guessing" that she was also a daughter of Adrian Posey, of Dist 129, Navarro Co TX. Eugenia was born 1867 TX, and died 1891. She left a son George Thomas Martin b. 1888 Corsicana, TX d. 7-24-1961 Blythe, Riverside Co CA, married to Willa Mae Stewart. He is buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Corsican, Navarro Co TX. I "think" Eugenia Posey was cousin to Lonnie Posey, and that both cousins married the kids of James Nathaniel Martin. If you see any connections, please write back.
