There may be some newspapers from this time frame. I suspect if there were some this strike would have been covered. Someone in the the Corsicana library or the genealogical society might help. I also believe there is a website which gives a list of newspapers in publication, but I can't remember the url. If I find it among my mounds of "stuff" I will send it to you. -----Original Message----- From: Sandra Price [mailto:sprice@redshift.com] Sent: Friday, July 05, 2002 12:21 AM To: TXNAVARR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TXNAVARR] 1894 Railroad Strike 27 July 1894 my great grandmother Jennie COLE was in Corsicana, Navarro, TX and gave birth to my grandmother Frances Leon Gegley. Frances' father's name was Frank Leon Gegley. He died in July 1894, just before his daughter's birth. He worked as a railroad inspector and was killed during strike negotiations. There is no marriage license, birth certificate or death certificate that can be found in Corsicana, TX. The last name could possibly be spelled "Gigley". I continue to look for death records, burial and history for Frank Leon Gegley. Can anyone help.
