    3. Yesterday I sent an email to this list which said that there was a African American Doolen family, that of Umphrey Doolen in the 1880 census at Corsicana, Navarro Co TX. I thought that I could see no connection between that man and my own Doolen family. However, I may have found a connection, through the name only. My Doolen family of Dist 126, Navarro Co., TX are all descended from one common ancestor, Daniel Doolen b. 1765 Ireland. This Daniel Doolen was living first in Georgia, and later in Kentucky where he died. Daniel Doolan was a SLAVE Trader. (Sad but true.) I am guessing, that Umphrey Doolen's ancestors, may have taken the name Doolen, from Daniel Doolen, because he was the original owner. This is an awful subject, but it is history, and it's my family's history, and if I can help anyone who might be researching Umphrey Doolen of Corsicana, TX. I sure hope I can help out. This may give a clue as to locations they lived at. Best regards, Lillian Kathleen Martin
