Searching for information on Ennola Griffith. Born November 26, 1891--Died May 26, 1912.
I am looking for information on the MILES, ARNETT, DAY, MELTON, and MONCRIEF families in Navarro county. Emma Arnett married James DeGraffenreid Miles Jr. in Kerens and I have information about their descendants as well as burial in Pilot Point Cemetery. Rhoda C. Melton Hauptman Arnett, widow of Dr. James E. Arnett of Tennessee, came to Texas with her children after her husband's death. Emma was her daughter. I don't have information as to the death and burial of Rhoda or her husband. In the Prarie Point and Bazette cemeteries, I have found graves for James D. Miles and Emma, his parents, his first wife and two daughters, etc., but not for Rhoda. I assumed that she moved from Tennessee to Texas after his death to be with relatives, but I don't know that for sure. I am also interested in finding out anything possible about Sadie Moncrief Miles and what happened to her and her two daughters. James D. Miles Jr,, her husband and my grandfather, wouldn't talk about them to his family or to me before he died. I don't have any information about the Day family other than what is on the tombstone. I would appreciate any information and would be glad to share what I have. Cecelia Conitz Heinrich cheinric@tca.net
In the middle 1940's I worked at Woolworths in Corsicana with Jimmie Johnson from Emhouse. I believe she now lives in Corsicana but I don't know who she married. At the same time a girl from Dawson whose last name was Northern worked there. I don't remember her first name. Again, I don't know who she married. If you know either of these people I would appreciate a phone number, e-mail address or a physical address. Anne Walton Wilson
I am descended from Nancy Elizabeth Doolen b. 2-1861 TX. She is the daughter of William Doolen b. 1820 IL d. 1865 Texarkana, TX. William Doolen was one of the earliest settlers of Navarro Co, TX. Nancy's mother was Sarah Foster b. 1825 IL. In the 1880 census the widow Sarah Doolen is shown with Nancy and her brother Wesley Simpson Doolen b. 1864 TX d. 1-24-1924. Married Kittie Keron Wilson. In the 1900 census Nancy is shown with her husband Joe Allen Martin in Montague Co, TX and Wesley is living with them. I believe the town is Sunset, TX. I have not found the death record yet for Nancy in Montague Co, TX. Nancy Doolen is my great grandmother. I would like to share data with any Doolen researchers. Best regards, Lillian Kathleen Martin

When you get on the TX share data base be sure and check out the Sanborn maps. I have found the location of my greatgrand parents house and where their business was located in town in the early 1920s. (these maps are city maps, some as early as the late 1800s) The data base is only for Texas cities, but there were a couple of times when I used IE and AOL at the same time and I got different states. (just not the ones I needed) If you have a password from another state you can access that state. Thank you for the answer and thanks goes to all that replied. Now if I can 'remember' to call Monday or at least a/s/a/p while the library is open, maybe I can get started on my genealogy again. I'm sorry to ask again, but do any of you know if Corsicana Library has this program yet? I am disabled and carrying for my husband of 40+ years that was Dx with terminal lung cancer Dec 2002, so my mind not only wanders, but leaves completely at times. :) I keep forgetting to call the library, however I am not able to go up there to re-new my card etc. If any of you can answer my questions it would be greatly appreciated. Bunny... I have been useing TexShare for a long time and really did not know that all the census are on there. Until this discussion started I did not see it... When you get into HeritageQuest go to the "search census"... the page will come up to enter name, etc.... but don't do that. LOOK UP TO the upper LEFT corner of the page and you will see the word "search" and under it is "browse". Click on "browse" and it will take you to a screen listing all the census records. The rest of them are there, there is just not an index yet. So if you have time to go through the images, or can get access to a index for where you want.... you can get the census records for all those census's. It takes a little longer to search, but if you know approximately in which precinct they are located it isn't too hard. I've been able to find other relatives living nearby using the browse method. If you know the page number, you can figure out a short cut. Doris
Actually it does have all the years, but those years you mentioned aren't searchable. You can browse the images for those years, page by page though. They let you narrow it down by state, county, and township. I find it easier to browse these than to go throught the microfilm in person at the library. > > Subject: > [TXNAVARR] TexShare Online > From: > Fourls1223@aol.com > Date: > Tue, 21 Oct 2003 13:13:52 EDT > To: > TXNAVARR-L@rootsweb.com > > >I have been to the TXShare <http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/texshare/pl/index.html> > website and it doesn't have 1830/40/50, 1880 or 1930 census but it is great, >and doesn't cost. I have been to the TXShare <http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/texshare/pl/index.html> website and it doesn't have 1830/40/50, 1880 or 1930 census but it is great, and doesn't cost. Just ask your local librarian, or go to the website there is a list of participating libraries. Researching: WHITENER in Navarro Co. If you live in Texas, you can check with your local library to see if they participate in the TexShare Online Databases. If so, they can give you an ID and password to log in from home. They have all the federal census and most are searchable. They also have some genealogy books online. http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/texshare/pl/ I believe Corsicana Library is on the list of participating libraries. There is a way around this. My library offers many databases that you can login to with your library card from home. All you have to do is login to the "Biography and Genealogy Master Index." You will then get a list of databases that are available, one of them being Ancestry Plus. At 12:04 AM 10/18/2003, J.
