    3. I am very interested in the Rutherford family who lived in Corsicana. I have photos showing Effie Rutherford "in her home in Corsicana, Christmas 1971" so I know that she was there then. Her husband's name was Ray Bernard Rutherford. If anyone has access to phone books from 1971, I'd love to have an address for Effie Rutherford. If there's anyone who has access to the newspapers of the same time frame, Effie died July 3, 1973 in Tacoma, Washington, but there would have probably been an obit in Corsicana papers, also. Any help on this illusive great aunt would be most appreciated. Carlette Carlette

    1. William M. Martin 1826-1870 NC-TN
    2. Lilly
    3. Hello, I descend from William M. Martin who was born in 1826 in NC. I believe he was from the Martin family who lived at Reidsville, Rockingham Co., NC. That community at various times was also called Williamsburg, NC. There is a Bailey Martin, who was an early resident of Reidsville, NC., and I believe my ancestor William M. Martin was related to him. William M. Martin married Mary M. Young. She was born in 1825 in NC. She is related to B. J. Young, who married Druzilla. B.J. Young was appointed guardian to the underage children of William and Mary, in 1870 after William died. They were all living in Henderson Co TN. William M. Martin was in the 1850 census at Rockingham Co NC. In the 1860 and 1870 census he was at Henderson Co TN. About 1878 his widow, Mary Martin, and some of the children moved to Navarro Co TX. In the 1880 census at Navarro Co TX all the Martin families listed are related. The children of William M. Martin, and Mary M. Young: 1. George Wesley Martin, married Martha Virginia Cunningham. Settled in Corsicanna, Navarro Co TX. 2. William Bailey Martin 3. Samson Martin (could be Ransom Martin?) 4. Druzilla Martin 5. Isabelle Martin 6. Joseph Allen Martin (Joe), married Nancy Elizabeth Doolen. Settled in Sunset, Montague Co TX. 7. Mary Caroline Martin, remained in Corsicanna, TX. I descend thru Joe A. Martin, who settled in Sunset, Montague Co TX, married Nancy Elizabeth Doolen. The Doolen family were early settlers of Navarro Co TX, and neighbors of Mary Martin, the widow. My grandfather was Joe Alfred Martin born 1899 in Sunset, TX. He worked 43 years for the Lone Star Gas Co. He lived at Vernon, TX most of his adult life, and died in 1968 at Marlow, Stephens Co OK. I am most interested in learning more about the Martin families of Reidsville, Rockingham Co, NC from the time period of 1800 to 1850. Best regards, Lillian K. Martin
