Im gathering information about treasure seeking on Hendricks Lake for an extensive project on Trammels Trace. As a result of a legend about lost Spanish silver, many expeditions have been mounted over the years on this oxbow lake north of Tatum. An attempt was made on the lake in 1965 or 1966 by a gentleman from LeClaire, Iowa named C.A. Stotlar. I could be Clarence, and it could be Stollar, Stoller, or Stotler. Can anyone direct me to a source for newspaper articles in the area from around that time, vertical file holdings, or any other information on this man? Any information from deeds, family records, etc that refer to Trammels Trace would be appreciated. Im gathering any and all references to the old road. Thanks for any help.
