I also have a Ferdinand SMITH (which was probably SCHMIDT, ??) who was born in Germany about 1836 and arrived in Texas (when ??). His, son, Ferdinand C. SMITH was born in Colorado County, TX, in 1857, so he was in Texas by this time. The FRICKs and SMITHs (SCHMIDTs ??) may have traveled together. Just a guess. I don't know for sure that Ferdinand actually had a surname similar to SMITH, but just an assumption on my part. He could have completely changed his surname from anything to SMITH. Any help always appreciated. Lana LeCROY
