    3. Yes, Jeanette, I have Willis and Ann (Davis) Bentley who settled in Douglas in 1871 (possible a few years prior to this) along with their their daughters and one son, Larkin Columbus, my Great Grandfather. One daughter, Sarah or Sallie Jane, married Mr. George W. Raney, from Natchitoches Co., La., as he was stationed in Monroe Co., during the Civil War. The other girls married into the Rogers, Rushing and Johnson families around 1871-78 in Nacogdoches. Willis was buried in Douglass Cemetery in 1871 and he was a Soldier in the Georgia Infantry. Around 1878, Ann bought land. The land deed, for Ann Bentley to buy land from Stephen Watson, states that her land was in Cherino in Nacogdoches County. They came to Nacogdoches from Monroe Co., Ga., possibly staying in louisiana for a time enroute to Nacogdoches. I am still trying to discover their motivation for moving on to Douglass, perhaps other family members or friends. I am just now discovering, in reading over entries in the List, that alot of people in that area were married to people from San Augustine County. Do you have any clues on that? Perhaps I should investigate that lead. If you have any leads or ideas, please write to me. Who is your family in Douglass? Have you been to the Cemetery there? I have been there two times and it is very well kept.
