My husband's folks, the MARTINs came from Henry Co., TN to Shelby County and Nacogdoches Co., TX. The STRIBLINGs were from GA. They had been in Wilkes Co., Oglethorpe and Meriwether Co., before coming to St. Augustine Co. (just across the river) from Nacogdoches. In fact, there used to be a bridge across the river which separated the MARTIN property from where the STRIBLINGs lived in St. Augustine County. I understand that the bridge no longer exists. The MARTINs were in the Attoyac area of Nacogdoches County. The STRIBLINGs were living in Chireno at one point, as one of the STRIBLING daughters was born there. My SIL and I had looked for early information on our STRIBLINGs at the courthouse in Nacogdoches County several times before driving to the courthouse in St. Augustine. That is where Gr-grandfather William Edward STRIBLING married and died. Glad we finally moved on to one of the neighboring counties.
